I wanna try to make it out to a few of my local ponds today after work. It'll be the first time Iv had a chance to fish in 3 or 4 days. In my neck of the woods we've recently had a "cold snap" that has us down to the low 40's at night and mid 60's in the day. Its been this way for about a week, which is very different from the near steady daytime temps of mid 80's we were having prior to this.

What are the chances the bass are shut off right now? I'm gonna fish either way, just wanna hear some input from people with more experience than myself.

Weve had rain and cooler temps here in central ok for about a week. Went out last night and got skunked. Im going to say theres a good possibility they are shut down. The only way to find out is to try!

Since its been colder for a week and not just a day or two it might be okay, or it might be a disaster... Only way to find out is go fish!

Could depend on other water conditions. Just because the air is cooler doesn't mean the water temp has changed drastically. If the water temp has changed then they may just be in another area. It might be good to check the water clarity. If it is on the clear side a jerkbait is a great way to search for water with more active fish. After you've caught a few you could take time in this area and slow down with a small worm like a drop shot or a little worm on a split shot.

Stable weather always makes for better fishing.  We had a wicked cold front pass through last Friday night that shut down the bite for days.

My area weather has been lousy for 4 days straight, Today was cloudy but the air temp was about 61 and the wind was mild so I went fishing. I hit the water about 3:00. I landed 5 in 4 hours.

Water temps had dropped 4 degrees since my last time out. I was surprised to get action. All the bass I caught were held up close to banked shorelines. Most hits were 3 feet off the bank.

It was a good day. I was throwing a black/green stripe beetle spin. Jigs and swim baits didn't produce.

Most times a pressure change ( high ) combined with high uv seems to shut things up for a short period of time, after a good 36 to 48 hrs it almost always picks back up.. A bad day fishing is still better than, well, a lot of other things, lol

Made it out to the water around 7:00. As soon as I showed up the wind kicked up very hard, blew some rain in and made me leave. Didn't get a chance to do anything.

Proves the ol' saying right: weather affects the fisherman more than it does the fish. :)

Bummer.  Better luck next time.

I went out today thinking I would likely get skunked because of a cold front came through.

Started slow but once I found the spawning fish it was on !

Most of them were caught on the side of their face as I assume they were protecting their nest.

I would bet that as long as you can find spawning bass, you will be fine.

sloooooooooooooooooooooow dooooooooooooooooooooooown. Largemouth have a slow metabolism, they get lazy way easier than smallmouth. Smallmouth sometimes aren't bothered by cold snaps. The big thing is to just sloooooow down and fish your areas.
