BW208 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Anyone tried these? They look pretty awesome! http://bamafrogs.com/collections/swimbaits/products/mattlures-boot-tail?variant=1102017085 Quote
Matthew2000 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 They tear easily. That is there only downfall and the paint comes off when the bait is stretched. Quote
basshole8190 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I like the flat tail. Fish it like a jig on the bottom. They get bit! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 Much better options for the price. *Hope he isn't a sponsor* Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Good bed bait. Matt has put a lot of effort making a bait that not only looks real but it sits upright on the bottom in a nose-down position. He has caught some monsters on it. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 I like Matt's hard baits. Soft baits, I like Hudd 68s. Top hook model, fished straight up. Fish them slow. Quote

Try coating your soft swimbaits with Megastrike. It will lubricate them reducing tear. And buy a bottle of Mend-it and thank us later. 1 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 The ones I had tore up easily and would deform if they were bent in the package. I had the blue gill and baby bass and I have caught more fish on a money minnow than the baby bass. 1 Quote
A KGB Operative Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I bought storm wild eye bluegills. 3 for 5 bucks. Worked nicely so far for me. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 I bought storm wild eye bluegills. 3 for 5 bucks. Worked nicely so far for me. I bought some too. Bright, beautiful plastics. Couldn't get one bit for the life of me. I still have them, but they're likely to melt to a tackle box tray before they see the water again. Zero confidence..... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 Two biggest complaints I hear about swimbaits: tear easily and have no action. The two are typically mutually exclusive. Take your pick, can't have both! Quote

And for the side paint being gone after 1 fish ? Fishing it through very little weeds with minor hangups? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 And for the side paint being gone after 1 fish ? Fishing it through very little weeds with minor hangups?Try my suggestion before you jump to conclusions. You obviously haven't. Otherwise. ...don't buy the lure anymore. Pretty simple. 1 Quote
Dogmatic Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 One of my go to baits, both the Ultimate and U2. I just started using the U2(smaller version), and have had lots of success, especially using the floating flat tail as a deadstick bait. As far as durability, I've used worse, and better. Like Mark said, use lubricating scent(as I do with all my soft plastics) and have Mend-It on hand. Quote

Slade House Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 What other realistic soft bluegill baits would you recommend for $20? the hudd bluegill if you can ever find it in stock Quote

Did you contact Matt directly about your issue? If not, that should always be your first thought. Some baits in batches have issues, it happens. If you want a lesson on exemplary customer service, Matt would be about as good a place to start as any. 2 Quote
