What's the easiest way to tell a Pre-Rapala from a newer model?  A guy gave me some stuff years ago, and I just realized I might have one.  The only maker's mark on the bill is "Storm".  It has the trademark giant yellow eyes, and awesome hunting action.  There are also a few "defects" from the factory that makes me think it my be the older model.  Any input is appreciated.

Id imagine, if it has the "awesome hunting action" then thats a surefire way to tell you do have an older model.

Will say wiggle wart under the bill. The top and bottom seam is via able.

Best way that I know of.

It says Storm on the bottom of the bill.

It'll have an obvious seam and text along the ridge on the underside of the bill. The text is tiny, and states the model. Yours sounds like a new one.

An old one I have says Wiggle Wart on the bottom of the bill in small black lettering.  The newer ones say Storm on the bottom of the bill.

Then it's a new one. The old ones say Wiggle Wart on the underside of the bill.

The pros say if it catches fish it's an old one. If it doesn't, it's not. So far, mine is not.

Don't find out and maybe you'll never know the difference :)

Only the true wart lover will be able to tell for sure. Once you've earned your 5th level wart black belt, your powers are so strong you can close your eyes in a flea market and they will lead you to them like a Ouija board. Once you can focus the power of the wart, you even start to "hunt" when you walk. I can spot a master a mile away when I see the wiggle walk.

It will catch bass - never saw a wart of any mfr. that doesn't catch fish.

I have one, the one in the picture I posted above in fact. It's one of the warts from when they first reintroduced them. I've about ground the bill off that thing on the zebra mussel covered rocks trying to catch a fish with it, not even a bite. The new, new warts that are supposed to be more like the originals are solid baits though.

That's called swag.
