5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I've been a bass fisherman through and thorough since 2011. Tried the deep sea thing about 3 years ago here in NC. Trip was 3 hours on the boat to get to the spot. 2 hours to fish. And 3 hours to get back with the boat. Me and the three guys I went with got sea sick (all but one actually). So Father's Day weekend this year June 20th we are trying the in shore fishing trip in NC. Guide said it is on a 24 foot boat. Will be me and three friends and the guide. The guide said there will be plenty of room. He said he uses spinning gear and baits just like bass fishing baits. He doesn't have any bait casters but we can bring our own. He said this is the case because not everyone can use them efficiently. He said there are mackerels, shark, blues, and other cool species. He sai sea sickness is almost not possible as it is very calm. He said at any point during the 50 mile trip we are 5-10 minutes from a marina. As opposed to the 6 hours of travel and only about 2 hours of fishing with the deep sea, he said we will be at the spot to start in about 10 minutes and have 8 hours of true fishing. Basically 6:30a-2:30p fishing. So my question is this. Is it possible to get skunked out there? Also how many fish can we expect to catch? Quote
Choosylobster Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The guide should know what he is talking about. I don't think you guys are going to get sea sick from doing inshore fishing. If you are prone to sea sickness there is a little pill called dramamine it's the best thing for motion sickness. Take the pills 1 to 2 hours before going fishing and you'll see you guys will not get sea sick if you decided to go deep sea fishing. I always take the pill before going out deep sea fishing and I never get sick. You're salt water fishing so it's pretty hard to get skunked. You guys will at-least land a grunt. If your guide is good you guys should be able to catch as much fish as you can. I have never skunked in salt water. Quote
John G Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 We will expect a full report with a few pics of all the fish that you catch. I doubt that you will get skunked and I would be surprised if you get sick while inshore fishing. Have fun! Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Thanks choosy and John!!! I am pumped. Dramamine will be available if needed for sure. :-) I will definitely have pics. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 1, 2015 Super User Posted May 1, 2015 I've been skunked many times inshore, even with a guide or just caught very few. Baitfish is the catalyst, no bait no fish. This time of the year the bait starts to show up, all goes well you should catch some fish. Quote
Dirty South Fishing Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Your stories sound just like mine. Two buddies and I went with a guide on a small boat like your taking about, it was amazing. So much fun! We went 35 miles out fishing by oil rigs in 20 feet of water. Y'all will have far more fun this coming trip, I promise. Quote

Father's Day 2015 with me, dad, father in law, and brother in law. Girls will be shopping while we fish. Dangerous. I know. :-/ Quote
