do you have a preference, or do you see any significant differences in presentation, between a bladed jig whose blade attaches directly to jig eyelet...orrr, attaches to the jig via a split ring.

 

 

I wonder how it would be to attach a blade like that to a keel-weighted swimbait hook.

You lose a lot of action without the split ring. Same principal as a crankbait. The one with the ring will hunt better.

I would thing the weighted keel hook with a blade would have a very dull action.

The ones without the split ring have a tighter action while the ones with them tend to have more thump and will "hunt" instead of swimming in a straight line. I prefer the split ring design myself but there's a time and place for the directly connected ones as well.
