Spro, Lazer, Owner all make good rings. I eyeball the size.

I'm ordering split rings today along with some other items for my barracuda tubes.  I buy from Terminal Tackle, 40# 100 for $3.65, been using them for years.  I have bought both smaller and larger rings from them, they're Roscos and are just fine.

Owner hyperwires get my vote also.

What makes them so good ?  My rings don't pull apart, designed for saltwater just like the Owners and are heck of lot cheaper.

I am sure there are several good brands out there. I have been using owners for a long time with out any issues where I have had other brands straighten. What makes them better in my opinion is the quality of the steel used. When putting them on baits they go back to form and are not sprung open. I guess part of it is that I am comfortable with them and they only run around .30 cents a piece. So cost is not a huge factor.

Yep -

Very strong - forged - very good "spring" so they rarely, if ever, deform when attaching to baits - plus the regular "bass" sizes come in black chrome which is nice. Seems like most of the recognized swimbait guys swear by them, so that is a pretty strong testament. Others might work fine, but in this case, all the positive comments and recommendations for them outweigh taking a chance on an off-brand.

That's my gripe with cheap rings, if they deform, then I have to toss it and start over. That's time and money.

I'm also a big fan of the Owner Hyper Wire rings. The size recommendation of #2, 3, & 4 is spot on as well. With these three sizes you'll have your bases covered for most bass baits.

I've also had good luck with Spro rings. I prefer the Owners but as another guy already pointed out its mainly a personal confidence thing. I've never had any type of failure with either brand. I've had failures from crappie cheap rings that come on a lot of baits these days but never any after switching them out for one of these two.
