JGBassinAL Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Wanting to get the gear set for a Brenious to put in my Scorpion 1000XT, where can I get them? And also, would it be hard for me to change these gears myself? Quote
masterbass Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Japan tackle has some in lefty right now. I'd shoot Jun an email about when he's getting righties in stock. Gear changes are really easy. Just open the reel and replace the parts with the new ones. Quote
John G Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I inquired about this last week with Japan Tackle and Kayo said the right handed gear sets will be ready in two weeks and they will update their Site then. The main gear is easy to replace but I am not sure about the pinion gear. I don't work on my own reels.....yet......so I would send it to DVT. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 29, 2015 Super User Posted April 29, 2015 Japan Tackle is where I got my gearset from. It'll run you about $50. It's an easy upgrade. Not hard to do at all. I don't have my parts list on hand, but you need more than just the main gear and pinion gear. You'll need the metal drag washer and the fiber drag washer. I can't remember if the yoke is the same, but it's a cheap part, and not a bad idea to replace it when doing the gears. It's known to wear down over time. 1 Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted April 29, 2015 Super User Posted April 29, 2015 If they have a kit put together then I wouldn't worry. They're great to deal with. Quote
