Heading to Presque Isle this weekend and have never fished the area. Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated.

There's a gentleman on the forum named Dwight, he might be able to fill you in.

I fished there last Memorial day with my son, He lives in Meadville. It was very crowded when we were there, but I can tell you what I found. There is a large sand flat to the north west of the channel leading out to the main lake, there is also a sand flat to the north of the outlet once you get on the lake out of the channel. These are said to be prime smallmouth spawning grounds, but when we were there no one was catching anything there and there were hundreds trying. We really did our best on the south shore more to the west side, and did catch some fish along the sea walls and rock walls.  So much pleasure boat traffic and speed boats trying anything in the middle was not safe. there is an area very shallow on the north west part that people were wading in, out as far as 100 yards or so. We pulled into a marina to get fuel, I asked the young man working there if I could make a cast or two while we were filling up, he said he didnt care. I made a few cast along the docks to our side and caught a big bluegill. That was the first time I ever caught a fish at a gas station.
