wuchr20 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 When I was real young, I caught a 4 or 5 pounder. Thats how i got into bass fishing Quote
livemusic Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I don't recall if this was my first bass but it's the first I remember. My dad had taken me to a big lake and we rented a motor. We ended up meeting my uncle on the bank. We were out of the boat on the shore and they were talking. I was casting around the shore and caught a bass about 1.5 lbs. I was ecstatic and they acted like it was a monster. I am thinking that might have been the same trip that the motor died. We were out in the big lake and I recall being scared. It seemed an ocean. I vaguely recall someone might have towed us in. Thinking back, I am surprised my dad took us out there. Maybe it was because I enjoyed riding in the boat, I don't know. But he was not an active fisherman during my childhood, so, I am surprised we went way out there. (Maybe a mile out, the lake is a bit over 2 miles wide.) Quote
Catch 22 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I only remember the first big bass I landed. I had a broomstick fiberglass rod with no reel, just line tied to the tip. I had a range of about 20' to 25' throwing by hand. I tossed a night crawler into some pads and away it went.I just took off running and dragged the bass up the bank at least 20' up the bank.I proudly took it to the local grocery store to weigh in at about 5 lbs. I remember it like it was====well when I was a 10 yr old kid. C22 Quote
