I just started posting on this forum without introducing myself as well. First off I would just like to compliment the forum.  There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable, polite guys on this forum both young and old.  It is very enlightening to read everyone's opinions.  This is the first forum I have ever participated in but my teenage boys are amazed at the activity on this site. They say I am lucky to have such a participating group in something I am so passionate about.  Now for me.  I have fished all my life but I really didn't take up bass fishing until about 17 years ago and I have been seriously trying to up my game for the last 13.  I just turned 50 so for much of that time I have been busy raising a family and finding time to fish hasn't always been easy, but as my fatherly duties decrease my bass fishing time increases.  There is nothing like time on the water, but I have spent many hours over the years improving my game by reading this site and others as well as watching shows, it just gets engrained in you after awhile.  My home waters are the IL river and ponds in the area.  Fortunately or unfortunately I am not a sauger fisherman as far as the IL river is concerned.  My family and I enjoy boating and we do vacation on large lakes in the midwest, so I do get to enjoy those waters and it is great.  I love not only the sport of bass fishing, but the science of bass fishing. It is challenging.  My favorite type of fishing is cranking on windy days.

Welcome to the site Crankenstien. I too am amazed by the quality of the members on this board. Hard to find a forum where people keep the discussion civilized (for the most part.) You've really got to hand it to Glenn and the moderators, because they run a tight ship and keep all of the discussion on topic. It's a tough job to keep everything in order, and they do great at it. I was/am a member at several other bass fishing forums, but this is the only one that really matters to me anymore.

With that said, this thread will probably be moved to the "Introductions" section by one of the diligent mods  ;)

The majority of the credit must go to Glen and his hard working moderators. It has produced a first class fishing site, that we all enjoy immensely. A big thanks goes out to all the active members, that participate on a daily basis. Without participation we have nothing! Thanks again, for all the thoughts, and wisdom passed on to the masses.

... I just turned 50 ...but as my fatherly duties decrease my bass fishing time increases...

You are oh so right.

I believe it is our responsibility to become as proficient as possible during this time so that when the grand-kids start arriving, we can properly play the role of grandpa.  I'm imagining the negotiation with my future daughter-in-law now - "Yes, I'd be happy to babysit, once Johnny learns how to tie a Palomar knot and can pick out his own backlashes..."

Welcome to BR, Frankenstien

Hmmph, usually the "e" comes before the "i"    :bushy-browed:

I too jumped into the fray without any intro.

Is it too late now?.....that was 2005

LOL! Noo, no intro needed, most folks know ya or soon will! How's that Fox doing? With a steady diet of New York Strip, I'm assuming quite well!

The funny thing is, for the first two weeks on here I only was aware that the general forum existed. Then I realized, "oh, there are more." Intro was a little late :)

Thanks for asking.

Tonight they had to settle for french fries ;-))

I've got some nice photos of that pair of reds, which I'll eventually post in "Everything Else"

In the words of Gene Wilder in Mel Brooks classic " It is pronounced Fraunk-N-Stien...",

to which Marty Feldmen replied "Well then, just call me EYE-Gore".

Yeah, I remember that.

And Rod Stewart sang about "Marty Feldmen eyes".....or was it "Betty Davis eyes?"   :headscratch:

Pretty sure it's Frankenstein

Hey sometimes you just see a topic you have to jump in and reply.  But welcome.  This place is really awesome.  I've read just about everything on this site and the group of guys on here are top notch although the long winter has warped a few but they are still good guys.

This is a great site. Previously I was only a member of the Bill Dance Outdoors site. I commented on how few people use it anymore and was told to check this one out. This one is hopping. Thanks Glen! Good articles too.

And welcome to a fellow newbie Crankenstein!
