Heron Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Just FYI, For all the Wiggle Warts fans out there. I just stumbled across on the internet, that Brad's Wigglers are lures that are Wart replicas that claim to run the same as the original Pre-Rapala Wiggle Warts. First time Ive seen it. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted April 27, 2015 Super User Posted April 27, 2015 What made the original WW's so great was their crappy, inconsistent construction. Brad's might have made a great bait but I doubt it's because of the same reason the original was great. Plus, out of every 10 originals, 1 might be great, 3 might be decent and the rest complete junk. To answer your question, I've never used Brad's Wiggler and don't know how they perform. Quote

danno054 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 People will say they are "original mold" when they make a mold from a pre-repala wiggle wart. Like jrob said its their crappy construction that made them hunt crazy. A lot of them would have inconsistency when they glued the halfs together. Also the actual pre-rapala plastic was heavier caused the plug to not rise to the surface as quickly. I buy the actual pre-rapala WW in the bad colors no one wants and get them painted rather than spend the crazy $$$ on those specific color. I live on beaver and fish table rock and bull shoals a lot and never go out on the water without one tied on. Probably more info than you care to know haha Im a wiggle wart nerd. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 29, 2015 I've had Brad's Wigglers, they swim like the new wiggle warts. Until someone starts making two halves and gluing them together, there isn't going to be another bait like the old warts. 2 Quote

I've actually debated cutting one open on the band saw and glueing it back together erratically. Maybe one day I'll attempt it. Quote

I'd think the problem would be getting a super thin saw blade to cut it without removing too much material, but it would probably be worth a shot. You could add some extra lead shot to get that dull rattle the old warts have and give them the slower rise. Quote

If I was to cut I'd cut from the back only too the bill and that would give me enough play to recreate the inconsistencies. The problem then is only the good lord knows which inconsistencies work. I've also thought about using some epoxy and creating a bevel on the underside. I also believe they could create a better hunting action buy using a weighting system like that in the kvd squarebill series. I should have been an engineer :| Quote
