Well...the handle should be fine as long as your existing nut will fit it. I don't think they ship with a nut, do they?

They do, and a ring lock with the screw. If you need a lefty nut you have to get it from Lews.

If you will take a quick look at what I posted...."trash" is a strong word my friend. I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I didn't slam anyone or any product. It was more so directed at industry and how they feed off the end user. You taking a personal shot at me is unwarranted and uncalled for.

All I stated was that there's no way on God's green earth that a $750 reel as I mentioned is of such high quality that it's 3x better than something like a Team lite. I never said it was a bad reel, but the return tends to overshadow the investment at a certain level.

So how bout you play nice and don't personally attack a forum member as I didn't direct any comment toward anyone myself.

When you say American egomaniac in the context of someone buying a high end reel, then you are calling the people that buy the high end reel an egomaniac. Listen, like I said earlier, I am glad that you like your Lew's! Great! I am happy for you! I can tell you right now that the reels that Lew's put's out would not put a smile on my face. I have gotten spoiled with high end reels. I used to be happy using regular reels until I bought my first Conquest. I even have a brand new Scorpion XT1500-7 on eBay right now and while it's a fine reel, I am not going to be happy with it and all I was going to use it for was on a flipping rod. I will buy an Aldebaran or a Metanium to fill the roll of pitching jigs and soft plastics. Where is the return on investment there! I could care less if there is a return on my investment. It's just like cars. A Taraus will get you from point A to point B same as a Bentley but a Bentley does it different. Will your Lew's cast a crankbait or cast a jig. A Megabass will to but it ain't just about casting There are a tone of luxuries that a high end reel offers that you are not going to get with a cheaper reel. That is why I buy higher end reels mostly and I don't consider myself an ego maniac.

You mentioned a couple of custom/boutique reels. That's super high end stuff. I'll have to look into them further. You have peaked my curiosity.

Guys, I may be new here, but Jesus Christ. We're grown men and women here, let's keep it civil. You want to argue? That's what PMs are for. And they do sell the nut, nut lock, and lock screw. But seeing as I have the nut, nut lock, and lock screw, I just need the handle. And sorry, but the handle won't be for sale unless you can match price for the new handle. I'd like to keep everything together just in case something happens and I sell it, but I'd rather have the smaller handles. And what are the slots on the side of the current knobs for? Surely they're not for changing them out...

My first high end reel was a Shimano Calais CL-100A. I regretted selling it but the reel that really got me started on buying the high end stuff was my Shimano Conquest 100. I would like it more if it was smaller but that is why they make the Conquest 50. The CNQ50 DC is my favorite reel right now. I say the best reel that I ever owned was the Antares HG. I sold mine cause it's to big for my hands but I am thinking about buying another to try out again on a different rod. You don't have to buy these reels new. I sold my ANT HG on eBay for just over $300.00 and it was in new condition. There are deals to be had. You just need to look and be patient.

I own a lot of custom gear and pay a little more to have it my way, I own a some of the most expensive rods made factory or custom, I own a lot of top end shimanos but not one of em are casting reels. four or five years ago I couldn't say that, from smokes calcuttas and curados I bled shimano!!! Sorry to bust some bubles but I sold em all, still find the Shimano Sustains and Stradics the best spinners on the market and well worth their price. Unfortunately I feel quite different about my baitcast reels, and I only own one Calcutta today, every other reel I own is a Lew's because I think they are the best bargain going, my 250 dollar Team Golds are in my opinion better than any reel I can buy for 5 or six hundred dollars!!

As for an egomaniac,,,, wy yes I am,,,,,, and that is not an opinion, it's a fact! I think whatever anyone wants to use today is better than anything I could have found just 20 years ago, even the 80 to 100 dollar reels today beat what we had available 20 years ago, so if you aint making a living with them reels and rods costing 100's of dollars, does that make you an egomaniac,,,,, I don't think so, I think it just makes you happy with what you are fishing with, and I think that is why most of us fish to begin with,,,,, just to be happy!!! Buy what you want and fish away, my bigger and better will always be bigger and better than someone elses, but to the contrary,,,,so will theirs to them!!!

What a bunch of egomaniacs!!!  :wink3:

My mention of the number of pro's using Lews reels was in direct response to the above post.

I like the 95mm handle and wide thin knobs.

I'm not a gambler, but I would bet you more are using shimano than lews everyday of the tournament anywhere in the country.

Could be but that's what I've been told and read here and there.

Personally I wouldn't pay $120.00 for anything Shimano offers these days. Price aside its my opinion the Lews product is outstanding.

I didn't see the comment earlier this morning on the small screen on my iPhone. IMHO, I don't think that you should waste your time looking at "boutique reels".

My dad is 50 years old and told me I was crazy paying over 100 just for a reel. But he said if you like it and are having fun it don't matter. Same thing here. If they're paying 500 for a reel and they love it and are having fun does it really matter?

I'm not a Shimano fan, I think they are over rated and over priced now a days. That has nothing to do with my opinions of higher end reels. Your taking my comments out of context.

I'm not arguing with you at all.

Did it ever occur to you you may be being laughed at by others that have read this thread. You may keep stomping your feet though. It's amusing.

Here's a Diawa I like.

I'm going to call Daiwa and see how long it would take to get one.. I want the specs too.

That reel would look great on a Falcon Rider20.

I'm just not a Shimano fan John.. In the guitar world custom or very high end guitars are referred to as boutique. When I see a reel that has a Farrari-ish look about it boutique comes to mind.

lol

Boutique is a good proper classification. The Steez doesn't fit in the boutique category for me, but reels like Megabass, and those ridiculously overpriced Doyo's...

Off brand reels with through the roof prices...Boutique is very appropriate.

It's the same with guitars and mountain bikes...and probably all other sorts of egomaniac hobbies.

You're right............ Any advice on how I could get a date with Halle Berry?

Hey guys, This Lews Tourny Pro is one sweet little reel. What a peanut.. Casts a mile, smooth as new ice and it has tight tolerances, nothing lose about it.

I'm buying another one.

Used the tournament mb finally. It's amazing for its price point. It was my first lews and won't be my last

On another note: I bought a 1000 yard spool of Seguar Invisx.

Here's my take on the line. It casts well... Then it breaks at some point other that at the knot. Over and over and over again.

I emailed Seagaur in NY about the problem. Here's what they said: "It's your fault. You're either using a line that is to lite for your rod or you back lashed it and kinked the line".

Each time this happened over and over again it was new line on the reel spool. I kept changing it out hoping I could get by the bad line.

In short: Seaguar Invisx is Junk and the Company Blows.

$80.00 down the drain. So here's my plan. I'm going to video tape a Vikings Funeral.. First the pile of Junk, then the lighter fluid, then the match. I'll post it in a couple days!

Let's sea some Invisx up in flames! Bring the "marsh mellows"
