WPCfishing Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 American leg..fishing has deals right now. Got a Lews SuperDuty for $139.00 and a Tourny pro for $139.00 I'd say that's a score. They should be here Wednesday! Now I have 6 Lews reels. I sold off most the Pfluegers, only one XT left. 1 Quote
Boogey Man Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Wow, that's a smoking deal on the TP . I've got one TP I've had since they came out, still smooth as day one. I have a Tournament MB on the way, it's supposed to be here Thursday. Lew's makes some nice reels at a nice price. Quote
WPCfishing Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 They sure do. If I only had one word to describe them it would have to be smooth' Quote
chelboed Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Considering changing my Username from Chelboed to Lew's-Fanboi. I totally agree. They are incredibly smooth and very strong. You can't tell me a $750 Megabass is 3x the reel that a Team Lite is in any facet of bass fishing. There's no way a $600 Steez EX is 2x better than a Team Pro. The kicker is that a Team Pro Z can be had all day long for $239 and a Team Lite for $186. Mix that with one of their new Custom rods at $139 or even a Team Lew's HM85...you can buy 2-3 complete rigs for the cost of just one fancy previously mentioned reel. And if you can't catch bass with this setup, then you need to switch to needlepoint because there are people out there happily making their living pimping these rigs. Lynne Reeves' focus on quality at a blue collar price...and devotion to the Veteran's programs (American Hero program) are refreshing in this "Gotta have the biggest, best, most expensive setup because I'm an American egomaniac" world we have created for ourselves. bassinbrady03 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Thats an insane deal. Lews is a great company that makes great gear at a great price. Quote
WPCfishing Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 I'm like an impatient kid waiting on my reels to arrive. Well said Dink. Keep the rods in mind too. My magnum 1 is fantastic. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Getting my first lews tomorrow. A tournament mb for my weightless speed craw Quote

I f you got it today tell us what you think of it. My two didn't show, I called the ALF, I was told my reels had not shipped yet. I bought them Monday? I'm a little bummed but hey they'll get here for the weekend. I can live with that. Quote

I think it's great that you are thrilled with your Lew's reels but why go out of your way to trash someone who has high dollar gear? IMHO, you are either insecure or jealous of others that have gear that you probably can't afford! 1 Quote

I agree with him and I can afford any gear out there. I was casting Bantam Lites back in the 80s. Back then they were $120.00. Personally I wouldn't pay $120.00 for anything Shimano offers these days. Price aside its my opinion the Lews product is outstanding. Quote

He singled out the Daiwa Steez and Megabass! That category of reel also include the high dollar Shimano's and then he said that if you own one of these reels, you are an egomaniac. He also mentioned the affordable rods that Lew's makes. That means that if you own an NRX, Ledgend Extreme, Edge, Megabass Rod etc, then you are an egomaniac for that too! WPCfishing Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 There are more pro's using Lews than any other reel on the market. If you think they can do better I suggest you let them know. Quote
IndyGlockMan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I have a Lew's Laser MG speed spool (my first bait caster) and love it. Great choice for a first BC I also have an Abu Garcia that was around the same price and it's nice, but not as smooth as the Lew's Quote
John G Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 There are more pro's using Lews than any other reel on the market. If you think they can do better I suggest you let them know. How many pros and how much are they getting paid to use Lew's?That is not really the point is it! No one in this Thread has made a negative comment about Lew's or the people that use Lew's but there have been negative comments made about people that like to use expensive gear. For some reason unbeknownst to me, you decided to throw out the more pros use Lew's than other reels card! LOL Quote
kingmotorboat Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 On a bright note I may get to use my tournament mb tomorrow wooohoooo! Now everyone get happy Quote

IMHO, you are either insecure or jealous of others that have gear that you probably can't afford! If you will take a quick look at what I posted...."trash" is a strong word my friend. I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I didn't slam anyone or any product. It was more so directed at industry and how they feed off the end user. You taking a personal shot at me is unwarranted and uncalled for.All I stated was that there's no way on God's green earth that a $750 reel as I mentioned is of such high quality that it's 3x better than something like a Team lite. I never said it was a bad reel, but the return tends to overshadow the investment at a certain level. So how bout you play nice and don't personally attack a forum member as I didn't direct any comment toward anyone myself. 1 Quote

I'm not taking a personal shot at anyone that owns high end gear. We (rich Americans as a whole) are ego maniacs about our hobbies. I see it with guns, bikes, cars, trucks....fishing is no different. I'm pointing out the obvious...when people trash a product that's pretty nice....I mean really gang up and pounce on the person because they need to have this or that...it's over the top. Don't take it personally because it wasn't directed at a person. The industry as a whole is just insane at the top end. I see how my comment could be misconstrued...but it's not exactly what I meant. 1 Quote

You're pretty generous with exclamation points which makes your entire post appear that you are yelling and ticked off...this the entire post will be taken as anger versus something constructive. Since I made a comment that is deep under your skin, I apologize. I have nothing against people with expensive gear. I have issues with people that have more money than sense and feel the deep need to rub your nose in it if you can't keep up, but that's not the issue here. We wouldn't converse like this in public (I would hope), so let's take it down a notch and get back to the OP's topic. Quote
HughCash Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I have 4 BB1s and just recently got a Team Lite. Only complaint about the TL is the fact that the knobs are huge to what I'm used to using. Anyone know it the replacement carbon fiber handle, it's stated on the package on their site that it's righty only, would work on the lefty model? I'm really wanting to stick with the carbon fiber handle, but I want the smaller knobs like the BB1. Quote
chelboed Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Well...the handle should be fine as long as your existing nut will fit it. I don't think they ship with a nut, do they? Quote
chelboed Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 FYI...you could easily sell that handle. I love them. I like the flat rubber ones as well like the ones you're talking about, but I also like the eva/cork combo. Quote

My mention of the number of pro's using Lews reels was in direct response to the above post. I like the 95mm handle and wide thin knobs. Quote
