Lacustrine Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I currently have a Duckett Micro Magic 7' medium, fast rod with a Curado 200 I 6:3:1. What size rod, taper, speed, etc. would be the most advantageous for a new set up? Quote
Penguino Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 You just answered your own question. You have a "Duckett Micro Magic 7' medium, fast rod with a Curado 200 I 6:3:1". So what exactly are you asking? Quote
Ben Eipert Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 A 7'6¨ medium flats popping rod with a 7:1 baitcaster. It is great for anything from shakey heads to tubes to a drop shot in a stretch. Also is great with a fluke or senko. Really shines for finesse jigs also. Quote
Lacustrine Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Depends on your application. I am looking for something that can do a lot that my other rod could not do. Have you been out on the water lately? What are they biting? I have fished Martin with a little luck, but could be doing better. Quote
CRANKENSTIEN Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I get it you are looking for a 2nd set up. I believe I have your duckett rod It has a real whippy tip. Correct?? I love it for med depth cranks and light baits. For a 2nd set up you need something to set large single hooks. I just purchased a duckett 7'3" mh for just that. I put a Lews bb1 7:3:1 on it and it is a great pitching multi purpose set up. I did put a lefty reel on it. I am starting to like them better not only for pitching but cranking. Quote

Super User Angry John Posted April 27, 2015 Super User Posted April 27, 2015 If your looking to expand I would look at a 2 power fast or xfast spinning rod for dropshot tubes small jigs like keitech spiders and flukes. I am currently stuck in Washington and that rod gets used every outing. I also throw a lot of wacky 4" canethumpers on mine. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 27, 2015 Super User Posted April 27, 2015 I'd get something in a medium heavy power with a fast action. Buy a length that feels comfortable to you. That rod will give you a bit more backbone to handle some heavier baits. Quote
