BDAWGIN Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 We will be heading to the Hayward Area to chase Smallies in 10 days on LCO, Grindstone, and Round!!!! We have been coming up on memorial weekend for the past several years and its been all about the pre-spawners with water temps from ranging 45-55 degree mark.... With the warmth to this spring, What should we expect for water temps and/or spawn stage? Were thinking that our timing this year will be perfect... any insight to this? Quote

Hayward is 100 miles west of where I am. Temps are already way ahead of where they were the last 2 years when the ice went out so late. My guess is that the bass will still be in prespawn when you get there. Quote
BDAWGIN Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 This is what we figured, hit the pre-spawn and potentially the first wave!!! Thanks Scott F Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 If anyone has any current water temps in the Eau Claire area it would be much appreciated. And I apologize for having to keep asking for information here....it's just that I'll be up there next week but I live 12 hours away. Thanks. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 If you head east, the cheesehead side of Lake Michigan has closed bass, walleye, and lake trout seasons. Musky may be part of it as well. I think walleye is closed for harvest from ice out until the first week of May. Smallmouth are closed for harvest from the first week of may until the end of June. Not sure what the restrictions on the trout are We have rules were I live also. That is why I fish the WI river in till June. Granted I never keep any thing, but better be safe then sorry. If you get up to the dells this summer. Give me a heads up. I should be able to make it. The dells is like a two hour drive. Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Any updates on the spawn? Coming up in a few days. Thanks! Quote
Super User Scott F Posted May 18, 2015 Super User Posted May 18, 2015 The spawn on my lake is still weeks away. Water temps went down last week, recovered and are heading back down again in the next few days. Lake effect snow is predicted just North of where I am. Lows around freezing for tonight. Largemouth fishing has been good, smallies not as good. Quote
