cootertom Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Check out the custom painted bait on Ebay. Item #220314884310 It started out for 99 cents and is now at $102.50 with one day left to bid. See if any of you guys know this painter? Quote
BIG M Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I remember when that guy use to hang out at TU several yrs ago. He claims to be the best natural pattern painter in the country. I think he does top notch work with the airbrush. I know some other guys that have sold baits for over 100.00 on e-bay. Just goes to show there is a sucker born every day. Quote

There are 3 or 4 people on ebay that get crazy prices for some of their baits. Allen Quote
Stringjam Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 How absurdly stupid are these people? You can buy that bait and send it to Casey and he'll give it that paint job for $17 freakin' bucks. ;D The funny thing is for the most part, it's 2 guys going through all the trouble of multiple-bidding. If you really want something, just put a sniper bid up in the last few seconds - - throwing bids back and forth with someone way before the end of the auction just drives the price up IMO. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Very, very nice. But, I have seen some just as nice from some of the guys on here. But, for a $100?!?! There's no way I am going to tie on a $100 lure, violently sling it across the lake and retrieve it back through sticks, twigs, over logs and the muck. I've lost too many $4 lures. Quote
Bass Thumb Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Sad thing is, that's a really simple paint job. I've made one pretty similar, and caught six nice bass just this past week. I've sold quite a few lures on eBay in the $4-$8 range with paint jobs just as good. I don't get the hight dollar amounts because I don't start with $20 lure bodies. Quote
Thad Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 It doesn't hurt that he has Jason Quinn, his friend, to act like a "Pro Staffer". Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted November 28, 2008 Super User Posted November 28, 2008 it does look nice, but not worth what it went for. someone got really ripped off. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 That is the best paint job I have ever seen. I wouldn't pay $100, but I could see how someone would. Does anyone on here know how to paint like that? I would be more than willing to shell out some green for something like that. Quote
whittler Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Ryan, there are several people out there that can paint that well. The thing is if you go to his website the cost is $17 for the paint job, but there are always a few fools that think bidding is a competion instead of a purchase. Quote

Like has already mentioned - - Casey will paint that pattern for $17. Lots of other guys who could do it just as well. The guy could have bought 2 Spros and had them both painted in that pattern for much less than he just paid for 1. ;D Quote
senko_77 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 He may have paid more, but he also didn't have to wait 16 weeks to get his bait back which is what the turnaround time is for Sixth Sense Baits right now. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 ryan, this sounds like a good time for you to buy an airbrush kit and learn how to paint that pattern isnt even that hard. theres nothing complex about it, its just colors fading into each other. go for it Quote
hart101080 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 havoc baits thats where you need to go he as good as any . his sexy shad is the spitting image of the real one painted scales on it an everything .an his paint holds up longer . trust me he is good Quote
madbass Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 This is a tactic used by some unscrupulous sellers on ebay. He has friends bid up his baits just to try to impress someone or sucker someone in to bid. Look at the bidders on most of his auctions-they are many repeat bidders. Like someone else on here said, you can just buy his baits much cheaper. They are nice paint jobs, but not that much better than most on there. Well, I may as well just admit it, I also custom paint and post some on ebay. Most of my stuff is special request and repeat business. It's a hobby that I love to do. Not one that I'm competing in. Here is one of mine.. Quote
BossierBassHunter Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 can anyone tell me why his sight said "Casey is gay"? when you click on the picture of the spoons on the homepage Quote
Thad Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Haha, I've been there before and never noticed that. I guess the guy that does his website doesn't like him too much. Quote
