Brian Brazier Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I just received 4 of the New Spro Little John XL lures in the mail, though I havent got them wet yet, I have high hopes for these big lures. Since I caught my first SM on a Little John MD in Old Glory, I have been a fan of the John Crews lineup of lures. The new Spro Little John XL is just that, an XL version of the origional LJ circuit board lure. The XL runs about 8ft on 12# line according to JC, and is made for stained murky water, where a larger profile easeier for Bass to see. Being an XL version of the origional, its basically a XL squarebill that runs 8ft. I received the 3 new colors, Baby Bass, Tropical Perch and Spicy, as well as the always popular Cellmate. One of the great things about the LJ Lures is that they are good anytime of the year, the flatside lure has an excellent tight wiggle, and the tungsten weight that has a (rubber) coating gives off a one knocker style vibration without the sometimes loud sound that can spook Bass. The finish is top notch, I expected nothing less from Spro, every product I have picked up from them has been. On occasion the LJ's I have bought did need some tuning, but that is to be expected, lures are mass produced. I am looking forward to getting these lures in the water, so I can get more information about how the lure performs, but I expect it will live up to my expectations. Super User Jrob78 Posted April 24, 2015 Super User Posted April 24, 2015 Nice, I've been waiting for these to show up somewhere so I could buy them. I haven't seen them anywhere yet though. I like that Tropical Perch pattern. Quote
Brian Brazier Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 Tropical Perch should be a great producer, the color is a light peach with vertical grey stripes and a pearl metallic coat. Redear, darker peach under the bill that finishes with a white stripe, and the top is a metallic violet grey that fades down the side. They should be hityin the market anytime now, I am suprised Tackle Warehouse has not gotten any yet, from what I understand, it shouldn't be long and they will be hitting the shelves. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted April 24, 2015 Super User Posted April 24, 2015 Can't wait. Just not sure where they fit in my lineup with the MD series. Maybe I can shorten the bill and have it run shallower Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted April 24, 2015 Super User Posted April 24, 2015 Baby bass and tropical perch look great! Quote
danno054 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 From the top view it almost looks like a trap with a lip. I might have to try one. I'm picky when it come to my squarebills, but Spro does make quality plugs. Quote
