HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 The first guide(a double foot) above the reel seat on a St Croix AVC70MF has been slightly damaged. The epoxy is cracking and one side of the support loop is slightly bent. Never having replaced a guide before, I'm wondering if I can just straghten the support and re-epoxy for a quick fix, or should I just R&R the guide from the get go? Again it's only slightly bent and still inline. I've only been able to find instructions on how to replace a single foot but not a double footed guide. In regards to rod repair, I thought it would be better to P/U a" how to video", then having to read a step-by-step manual, and wondering if someone would be kind enough to recommend one. Unless you feel a text manaul is the better way to go. Thanks in advance for your help Quote
ddigit Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 There is no way to fix a bent frame or cracked shock ring. As far as the finish on the threads you can while using a super fine grit sanding pad from 3M rough the surface slightly and redcoat with finish. As far as replacing the guide and re-wrapping, the only video instructions I know of are located at Mudhole and Fish Sticks 4 You!... Good Luck! Quote
