Scorcher214 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Been working out for about 2 years now, started with bodybuilding type stuff and now I've moved on to mainly strength. DL-445 Squat-335 Bench-205 Chasing the 1000lb total right now. Anybody else? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 Yes. I've been resistance training for a bit longer. Started in 1977. Still making it happen. Over the years my triple has moved up & down. More recently I've adopted a new & refreshing perspective. It may not be how much you can lift but how much you look like you can lift . . . Super User FishTank Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 I use to be into powerlifting many years ago. My personal best where set in the 198 lb class. Once I broke 1500 lb, I started to back off and got back into fishing. I need to get back to the gym though. Dead Lift 545 lb Squat 545lb > This seemed easy when I did it but I payed for it the next day. Almost couldn't walk. My body just couldn't take the stress of the weight. Bench 415lb I worked my way up to this by using several different techniques but my favorite was the 5% method. It just seemed to work for me. If you want to learn about several strength techniques pick up the book called the Encyclopedia of Muscle and Strength. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 No power lifting, but I do lift. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 23, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 23, 2015 I use to lift a lot. I have no excuse for why I stopped because I have a free gym at work. I never got to where I was lifting too much, 265 on the bench, 375 squat, and 400 something on the DL. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 I have been lifting for a couple of years. My goal has always been fitness rather than pushing the envelope to see how much weight I can move. Even though I am an old guy, I still let ego write checks my body can't cash at times. I will never make the 1000 lbs mark, but I am stronger and healthier than I've been in years. It is definitely worth the time and effort. 2 Quote

DL-445 Squat-335 Bench-205 Chasing the 1000lb total right now. Anybody else? I passed the 1000lb total 10th grade in highschool. We didnt do deadlift though. We did Power Cleans, Bench, and Squats. I'm working on the 1 ton and 1 metric ton leg press total right now. But yes I do enjoy weight lifting. Quite a bit really. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 I used to have to lift 4 days a week when I was playing college basketball. We did a lot more in the way of just maintaining strength throughout the season and gain a little in the off season. We never dead lifted, but I used to bench 225 and squat 375. I really need to get back to working out though. I actually kind of miss that soreness that lets you know you did something well. Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 I lift to keep the arthritis at bay. Had both shoulders operated on, and the dr. said that I would develop arthritis over time. Now I can really tell the difference when I have gone a while without lifting. Quote
Jaderose Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I enjoy lifting a fork full of pie now and again. Quote
CRANKENSTIEN Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 used to lift, but got busy with kids and it went by the way side. 12 oz curls now. Quote

Big C Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Does sod, pinestraw, or mulch count? If so... Sod: 6 pieces (getting them to the spot from the pallet without dropping or damaging any). Pinestraw: 7 bales (without dropping a bale to the destination from the trailer). Wheelbarrow loads of mulch: all day up hill both ways. 1 Quote
sprint61 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Jesus...[/quote I hurt bad all the time. Lifting was worse on me then football. Of course I would strain myself everyday just to out do everyone, looking back now I could care less. I guess the torn rotator cuff made me relaize that. Quote
