OntarioFishingGuy Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I had some good sucess using spybaits last year, mainly using whatever dropshot type rod I have on hand. I was wondering what rod and reel you guys were using for this technique. Also, does anyone have experience with using spybaits on braid? I want to use 5lb PP for them, but have heard that they only perform well on fluorocarbon. I tried using fluorocarbon on a spinning reel while using them, and while I had good sucess, I didn't care for the way the line handled. Any insight would be appreciated. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I used a 6'10" M spinning rod with straight 20lb Power Pro which has the diameter of 8lb (I think). I also tried the same set up with a 10lb leader & my results were about the same, so it was braid only for me after that. The M action rod & the right drag adjustment worked just fine. Most of my strikes came on the fall, so I think the braid had something to do with slowing the ROF. Quote
