Inoah88 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hey guys I am from a state that has a 3 hook maximum allowed meaning that I can only put three hooks on my Alabama Rig. I am going to use dummy baits but and confused on what wires I could put the actual hooks on an recommendations? Quote
Crank Bait Nut Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I'd Place The Hooks At Three Across , After You Spread The 5 Arms Out , Then Use Top and Bottom Wire's As Dummies. They Also Make A 3 Arm A-Rig. Mike 1 Quote
Matthew2000 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 This is mine spread out where do you guys think Shane's baits? I would do three across aswell. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 22, 2015 Super User Posted April 22, 2015 Center and the two bottom! Bass will hit the center bait most of the time as it looks like it is hurt and can't keep up with the school! Quote
rangerjockey Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Center and 2 tops, teasers on the bottom 2. Quote
gobig Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 On a five wire rig the teasers should be on the top and the baits should be on the center and bottom two wires. I use hitchhikers to attach the teasers straight to the rig. I eliminate the swivels for the teasers. This does a few things. Stops the teasers from spinning and makes those baits ride towards the front. I also use smaller baits for the teasers. Putting a nail weight in the belly will also ballast them, helping them run true. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 22, 2015 Super User Posted April 22, 2015 Bass generally ambush from below and behind. Let that figure into your logic when picking which baits to hook. I find most single fish are caught on the center hook, which is also furthest back. Quote
wisconsin heat Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 There doesn't seem to be a set pattern on which positions fish strike more. You would think the lures on the bottom would get more reaction strikes, because in theory they will be closer to the bass, but the majority if the fish in this video will follow the rig for awhile before striking. Just as many bass if not more, struck the top lures than the bottom lures. Quote
