Every day getting closer to making the purchase Sometime around January I'll be pulling the trigger on something used for around 30k.

What do you like and dislike about your boat? What kind of boat? I'd love to hear what you have to say personally.

Of the boats I've been in Triton, Nitro, Charger, Ranger, Bass Cat, Champion... I like Tritons the best.  Always felt good to be in one as a co-angler. I have yet to ride in a Phenix, Skeeter, legend, and the few others out there. I personally am not attached to any one brand over another.  I'm just curious what anyone has to say. May chime me into things I may not have thought of yet.

I would trade mine for a nice 20' + center console. Perfect all around boat imo.

The 3 that you said you have not been in are imo the best boats on the market.

Have you owned a boat before? The questions you are asking us are all personal preference answers. They may or may not be the same as yours. If you've decided to drop $30k on a boat, I would hope you have it pretty narrowed down to what YOU want.

I can guarantee you however, $30k on a USED boat would never happen for me.

A buddy of mine bought a basically new stratos in showroom condition for half that.

I have a 2007 Nitro 911 CDC, love the layout and all the storage. What I dislike is the hotfoot. I'm so used to being able to control the throttle with my hand that it's taking some getting used to. Nitro is the only manufacturer to offer a center dual console bass boat, but you have to go used to find one. I really like operating the boat, it fishes great very comfortable. So far I have no real complaints, on a side note. Most literature I've seen states that my boat only has a 7 for rod locker, it holds 8 footers just fine. I almost bought a Stratos, I'm glad I didn't. I wasn't a fan of Triton either, the storage wasn't well thought out, and they get a little dicey when on plane. Ride in as many as possible go to boat shows, take notes, the boat for u will be obvious when u find it.

Yeah we will see what happens. I've never heard of a new bass boat for half of 30k. I have some requirements which are at least 225hp and 20'+ but thats about it right now don't care about electronics because I'll upgrade those. Never owned a boat before. Have driven plenty including the Nitro with CDC which I also liked but am not ging to buy. Not sure if I trust and older Nitro but they are much cheaper in price which is a bonus. Most of what I've seen online in my price range has been 2007-2009 I'll start actually getting out looking at some when the time comes maybe closer to the end of the year. Not to may dealers around these parts.  Still if anyone has certain things they like/dislike it's good to know so keep on posting.

whatever you do I would not buy a mercury motor because they are not very good in my opinion.

(It once broke down in the middle of Puget sound)

Every brand of motor can breakdown. Which company does not need a service department? My Mercury motor is 20 years old and has never needed service. If they are that bad, I probably would have had it in to be repaired many times by now.

Drive all the boats you can until you find the one that you fall in love with.

But then......never want it so much you are willing to 'overlook' anything or compromise.

At the end of December I bought a 2009 Procraft 210 SuperPro.....20'-9" with a 225HP Merc for $18K..........In my opinion a very good boat.

My first and last boat was a 2001 Procraft 185 Pro.....18'-6" with a 150HP Merc.

Like Scott said......all boats need maintenance.....if cared for properly the majority of any brand will last just fine.

Good luck......looking is half the fun!

I don't know where you're located but here in SC for 27 grand you could get into one a couple years old, of course Rangers are a bit higher. Could always buy a pro's boat at years end too.

I used to buy a new boat every two years. I've owned most of the major brands.

But my last two boats I've kept longer. I sold my '96 Stratos after 6 years, but it started to show some wear. Don't get me wrong, I like Stratos. I used to sell them.

My current boat is a Phoenix 721 and it is almost 6 years old. I love that boat! It's been in extremely rough water and has some scratches from busting through flooded trees, but it still is going strong.

It will be my last one, unless I have a mishap that damages it. Then I'd get a 921.
