jeffalessi801 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hey guys, I just bought a revo premier SPINNING reel and I've got about 3-4 days on it and it's been kinda rough reeling it in the whole time. What's weird is it will be rough about 80% of the time, it's almost like it will be rough then for 10 casts it will be super smooth and a dream then I cast it and it's back to rough. I know it's not a bearing, I couldn't imagine it being a gear since it's done it since day 1, it's just got a roughness or what others say as a thump. It's not grinding it just seems like the same thing as when a tire is out of whack. What could be the problem? I was really exited about this reel till I got it and have had this happen, I have had nothing but good things to say about all my Abu products but as of now my 40 dollar hank Parker Abu is better then this reel. How do I go about getting her right? Thanks. Quote
oldschoolbasser Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Call customer service. There's a problem with the reel. It should always be smooth. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 It's really hard to say without seeing it. Being as new as it is I'd look into an exchange. Are you still racing btw? Quote

Ya I'm going to be racing a few nationals this summer, I also did a Loretta qualifier this past weekend for open pro n +25. Anyways what did u mean by exchange? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 See if ABU or the retailer will give you a new one. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the design or materials. They're a nice reel. Good luck and stay safe. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 When my abu reel was doing this I held the spool and tightened the handle. For some reason that fixed it. Quote

Anyways what did u mean by exchange? Thee Jeff Allesi of laser gate fame? Sorry, not trying to inject any non-fishing flavors here. Did you get it used or buy new? Abu has a 1 year warranty on their reels. The Premier models are good equipment, I'd contact them. 1 Quote
Patrick Morrow Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I wonder where did you got it? Revo Premier spinning reels are quite hard to come by these days, they are discontinued. I know that this Revo has 11 bearings so it should be silky-smooth. So it`s most likely a defect, contact the Shop or Amazon and you will get it fixed. Quote
jeffalessi801 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Ya man that was a long time ago, anyways I got it on eBay a few months ago but it was still sealed and brand new. Would I still be able to contact them about it? I really havnt used it much at all cause I don't want it causing problems using it when it's out of whack like it is. Quote
wnspain Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 All you can do is try. Just tell them the truth, they'll usually try to find a way to help you out. That's been my experience with their customer service anyways. It may end up costing you S&H, but they should stand behind their product. Quote
