Comartin Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I mostly bass fish but I am going on a pike trip to Canada this year and I also do some musky fishing so I am looking for a high resistance reel that will work for multiple applications. I've been looking at maby an ambassadeur, daiwa millionaire, abu garcia orra winch, okuma akena,, and bass pro muskie reel. I have a lews tournament mg that I got this year that I will be using for bass but I also tried throwing it with some musky/pike stuff and it worked actually pretty well. Just looking to pick another up so I don't have to change my reel over from rod to rod. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated thanks Quote
sprint61 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Pretty sure your the same guy who ask this on muskie first, as Steve Worall told you the akena is your best bet. The guy knows what he's talking about I have one personally and its been great. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Define "High resistance". Are you talking about drag? Quote
Comartin Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 A reel that can handle bucktails/ big spinnerbaits things like that Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 21, 2015 Super User Posted April 21, 2015 I would look for a used 200 D series Shimano reel. The Citica would be pretty affordable. Guys use them for big cranks and spinnerbaits as well as the A-Rig. The Curado 300E is more costly but it would be slightly more beefed up. Quote
hatrix Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Millionaires are cheap and are a good reel that is made for big baits and big fish. Quote
