Do you need a fast boat to find shad?

Don't know how much help this will be. My boat is slow also. I spend most of my time trolling. Launched at govt was last Thursday at dawn.

We trolled towards boxcar cove, I was using rattle traps and my buddy using rapalas. We stayed close to shore and fished the small inlets with swimbaits.

Between the two of us we brought 8 stripers and 1 small mouth home. We were back to govt wash before noon.

The U.S. Open starts 14 Sept, 3 day majorr tournament. Lots of boats practicing, you will not get much info the next week.

You can find Shad under the marina docks early morning and meter how deep they are in the marina area during mid day, that gives you what you need to know.
