Mista bass Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 My favorite style of fishing is probably finesse. I'm curious what everyone's favorite combo for finesse fishing is? Mine is a Dobyns champion 682sf med light, fast action, with a diawa ballistic 2500. I have it spooled with 10 lb power pro braid and a seaguar flouro leader. I feel EVERYTHING with this set up. I can literally feel each and every pebble I drag my shakey head over. This is probably my favorite rid in my line up. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted April 20, 2015 Super User Posted April 20, 2015 I have a bunch of finesse rigs, spinning and casting. Of the spinning rigs, my favorite is Avid 6'3" M/XF w/Cabela's Verano 2500 spooled with 6 lb Trilene XT. It is pretty much my dedicated Slider rod which is probably my all time favorite finesse method. Of my casting rigs, I am still too new to this BFS game to have a favorite but I am very fond of a custom rod DVT Mike built that I used for finesse cranks last fall. I had a TD-Z 103P w/1016 spool mounted on that rod and just hated to put it down. Was very fun to fish with. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted April 20, 2015 Super User Posted April 20, 2015 Only one I own is a ML/XF St. Croix with a president reel and 10lb braid. I really like this set up! Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted April 20, 2015 Super User Posted April 20, 2015 This is tough as I have 3 finesse set ups but 2 of them are killer. I think I would have to say my favorite is a 6'9" M-XF Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth spinning rod with a Daiwa Tierra 2500 spinning reel even though my Fenwick Aetos 7' M-F spinning and Pflueger Supreme 8230 is a little lighter and more expensive. The reason is the Elite Tech smallmouth is very light and sensitive and while both are very comfortable the smallmouth hidden handle is just perfect in my hand to where the rod truly feels like an extension of my arm. riverbasser13 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I use a 6'6" ML Shakespeare rod and 2000 Lews laser speed spin spooled up with #8 yozuri hybrid. Not the most high end gear but it gets the job done and works good with a variety of lightweight presentations. 2 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 20, 2015 Super User Posted April 20, 2015 Custom 7ft 4in ML spinning from DVT paired with a CI4. It is spooled with 8lb Invizx. For casting, Dobyns DX742 paired with a Chronarch CI4+, spooled with 12lb Abrazx. Quote
Preytorien Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I use a Gen 1 Shimano Compre with a Stradic FJ2500 on it. Spooled with 10lb Sufix 832 with 6lb Sunline Super FC Sniper leader. It's scary sensitive. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 20, 2015 Super User Posted April 20, 2015 Shimano Cumulus 6"10 and Core 50mg7 for casting gear. Megabass shakeyhead spinning rod with a Stradic for a traditional approach. Quote

EvanT123 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 My favorite setup right now is a custom SC 7'mlf Croix with 10lb braid and stradic 2500. The nice thing about it is it can handle a 1/8 Ned rig as well as a 78 pointer or 95 gunfish. Quote
5fishlimit Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 My favorite is my Daiwa PXL-R on a 6'8" Duckett. I use 8# FC line. I use this set up for zoom finesse worms. Usually unweighted, but will add a 1/16th, or 1/8th tungsten weight - depending on the weather conditions, and depth of water I am am fishing. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 22, 2015 Super User Posted April 22, 2015 Two nearly identical casting rigs. A Kistler Helium LTA 7' ML-MF with Alphas 103 A Tatula 7' ML-R with Alphas 103F I use these for any small unweighted, or lightly weighted plastics. Two identical spinning rigs. Steez 7' ML-F with 2004 size JDM Certate I use these for anything under 1/4oz total weight. Line depends on where I'm going, seasonal considerations, and target species. Quote
DaveT63 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 For spinning, I have a custom built 6'10" MLF St Croix SCV with a TD Sol 2000 on it. Casting is a Loomis MBR842C GLX with a PX68L PixZilla. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 22, 2015 Super User Posted April 22, 2015 Of the two I have, it's a toss up between the LTB 6'10" ML/XF and LTB 6'8" M/XF both paired with Abu Garcia Revo Premiers in the 30 size. Quote
