Today went fishing on a small, stained water pond. I didn't get even a single bite! Don't understand why. It's spring, warm water, spawn. This how I fished:started with topwater popper (green back yellow/orange belly).

Next: gold/grey ratling shalow crankbait.

Next: green/white mid range diving crankbait.

Next: Spinner bait small colorado blade with black/gold fflakes chartruse teil and the other one was baby bass.

Next: Brown jig with KVD cray fish (I guess) with blue and green flakes.

Next: texas riged junebug trickworm.

Next: Dropshot stickbait watermelon with gold and green flakes.

I tried different speeds and retrives etc. I don't understand what have I done wrong. Not even a single bite.

it happens man. I've gotten skunked the past 4-5 times I went out. On a pond that I normally catch 20-30 fish over 3 pounds in a day, and a top 25 trophy bass lake. Sometimes they just don't bite, wether it has to do with temperature fluctuations, wind, or pressure. My only advice that helped me finally get a fish out of the pond the other day was slow rolling an underspin up a drop off, and a small paddle tail on a football head jig. Keep at it and eventually you'll get on a bite. Tight lines

Yes, I cought a lot of bass from this pond. But today if somobody would of told me that there is no fish in this pond I would believe. We'll see next time. I just thought may be it's because we had a few showers and it was cloudy all day. I was surprised that nothing would bite, crappy, cats, bluegill.

Me the wife and Niece went to one of those pay per fish trout ponds,  I hate to admit that I never caught a fish. If it weren't for the Wife and Niece there wouldn't have been a fish fry. LOL.

Maybe they are just focused on finding a mate and not feeding. Same thing happened to me and someone explained to me on here that might be the reason. But you being in north Carolina idk spawning times.

Since you are right above me, we have had a solid rain the last 6 days here so i'm sure its probably been the same there. If so a lot of fresh water will throw the fish off as well and turn the bite off.

I went out today on the lake today with a friend. Only caught 4 bass in 6 hours. Fish just weren't biting for us either. I'm sure it will be different for you in the next few days once this rain stops.

Same thing happened to me at a pond today. Week straight of rain, cooler temps, peak of spawn, and the water had the visibility of gravy. Did see a hawk try to ****** a duckling though. That was kinda cool.

Went to a 175 acre electric motor lake today, got there about 2:30 pm, place was packed, I think it was a "fish free in indiana day" Thats always bad, lots of morons.  But back to the subject at hand, I had a guy tell my for the last 2 weeks, man this place is on fire, you need to go down there. Well I drove hour and a half, water was muddy but 68 degrees, 5 hours of fishing produced one 12 inch LMB.  I guess the fire went out.

I got to watch something devour a duckling early in the spawn....i wish i couldve saw the fish but literally an entire chunk of water and a duck just disappeared in half a second

It happens to all of us from time to time. I have had a great year so far but the last time I went out to this small lake close to my house I got skunked. I fished everything on the lake and threw my entire tackle box at em. Very frustrating but that's why I like fishing. I like things that are challenging so when you do succeed you get that much more enjoyment out of it. Better luck next time.

This year has been very slow for me so far. It seems there has been rain, or a cold front every time I have gone out. One or two fish after 8 to 10 hours isn't very productive.

A Ribbon-Tail Worm or a Zoom Lizard could have produced results, but you never know. Some days they just won't hit anything.

I'm also in NC.  Went to Shearon Harris yesterday... nada.  Screwy weather.  Cold front, wind, and temps have dropped 10 deg in the day, down in the 40s at night.  I'd like to blame that, but it's probably just me.  Tried shallow water worms, jigs, chatterbaits.  Tried deeper creek beds bordering the shallows.  Nada.  Nobody did much.  So it goes...

Up until this week, I was catching a lot of bass in my pond. We got a ton of rain last week/weekend and it seems the fish have not been active since. It has been a rough week of fishing, only one bass in 4 outings. I have tried several different rigs and presentations but it just seems they are not interested. Hopefully they will start biting again soon!

I fished a goose egg today too, at a reliable reservoir in Mass.  It rained during the past couple of days and was a bit chilly. No worries - it's a long season....

Prespawn means you gotta find them first

and in order to find them you gotta get them to bite and they are shakin off the winter so you gotta work alil slower

Not too many fishermen show enuf patience in doing this tough task.. I see em all early spring can tell they are crankin their reels way too fast and not searching enough

The weather in Southern New England has been lousy. We got a few warmer sunny  days and it spurred the bass on, then came the clouds and cold with rain. The bass turned right off.

Still waiting on the sun to come out and the winds to slow before I go back out.

To bad'. I'd rather have the monkey than the skunk.
