brianb40 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I installed my 596c hd di on my new boat and started to see interference. I'm getting a different power cable with the choke to hopefully fix the interference. But somehow working on that unit made everything on that unit and my 688ci "sync up" Today on the lake, neither unit would show more than 3-4 foot of depth. Also, the pixels and images were very blurry and not sharp like usual. they are on different transducers. Could me messing with the settings of my di unit in the front be causing this issue? I have no idea what's going on. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted April 18, 2015 Super User Posted April 18, 2015 Where is the transducer for the di located? Do you have an Ethernet cord connecting the two units? Hopefully Wayne will be along soon. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 19, 2015 Super User Posted April 19, 2015 Those units cannot be linked with any connection. I suspect you are getting cross-talk with both units operating at the same time. If you are getting RFI from the trolling motor, call Humminbird Customer Service for help with that. Did you put a trolling motor PUCK DI transducer on the trolling motor? XTM 9 DI 25 T Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted April 19, 2015 Super User Posted April 19, 2015 I suspect you are getting cross-talk with both units operating at the same time. How does this happen? Wireless communication? Sorta like Bluetooth technology? Excuse my ignorance, everytime I visit this section I learn something. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 19, 2015 Super User Posted April 19, 2015 How does this happen? Wireless communication? Sorta like Bluetooth technology? Excuse my ignorance, everytime I visit this section I learn something. Sonar is SOUND pulses broadcast in the water. ANY unit that uses the same frequency/s can detect those pulses. Cross-talk is when the sonar pulses overlap and each unit detects the other's sonar pulse. The units don't even have to be on the same boat. I see cross-talk from other Imaging units hundreds of feet away since Imaging broadcasts the sonar pulses to the sides. This is cross-talk on my 360 from another boat with 360: Quote
brianb40 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks for all of the input guys. Weirdest thing. I went out to the lake the very next day and they both were working fine and have been since. I found how I can switch the sonar off on my dash unit, so I can still have my gps up, but it wont interfere with the bow unit if this ever happens again. Quote
