We have lake near me that is stocked with tens of thousands of trout each year. It also has bass it...big old trout fed fatties

Evertime i walk up to that lake a trout fisherman will see that i have a jerkbait or swimbait tied on tells that i wont catch a trout in that lol...i say " youre probably right!:

Then when i catch a bass they look dumbfounded and say somerhing about not knowing there were bass in the lake

X2 ~

A couple of my favorite & most productive bass lakes are the same - stocked trout lakes.

And I also relive the same scenario many times a season - and it always makes smile.

When some one wants to dispute something with me I just tell them "whatever you want to think"

Some people will be disagreeable  no matter what the topic or what the conditions. Its a power play on their behalf.

I used to fish the city pond in a somewhat "affluent" neighborhood. The conversations were pretty good. One time I hit a jogger with a pounder that flew over my head after a Bill Dance hookset. Pleasantries were exchanged and I, uh, did not get her number.  :laugh5:

In the store with my wife a while back, I was looking at the fishing poles.

Wife: Don't you have enough fishing poles? You can only fish with one at a time you know.

Me: Do you have enough purses and shoes? You can only use them one at a time too.

Wife: No, but I use them for different outfits.

Me: And I use the fishing poles for different situations and baits.

Yesterday i was fishing a tournament and we were throwing along the sea wall and around the little private boat ramps. We were near this dock full of people fishing. First cast i caught a decent 2-3 pounder and every one of them chimed in.

1st lady "omg omg he caught a bass, hey *name, name name name, "

kid"what'd you catch it on?"

guy#1 chimes in" he had to catch it on a spinnerbait or crankbait.

me"no it was a shakey head"

guy#2 mustve been a crankbait

me again "no shakey head.

Guy #3" oh he caught it on a fluke"

we just trolled away slowly....

Same people not even 10 minutes later. 2 jet skis and a wake board boat flying and playing in the cove which is marked EVERYWHERE with no wake signs...

If I had a dime for every time the guy I worked with told me it's a waste to buy all the gear I do and that he could catch more fish with just a cane pole and worm I'd be able to buy a whole bunch more of the "wasteful" gear haha

My dad and I also had a group of high school girls at night on a dock ask us if we were catching anything, told them the bite was slow but we were catching them, said that sounded super boring and they walked off. Then we heard them laughing and saying they should throw rocks in the water ahead of us to make us think it was a fish... I can only imagine from the sound of the splash they had to be tossing grapefruit sized rocks not 25 yards down the bank in the direction we were going

Pleasant bunch, by the sounds of it.

I've tried to explain to the "Why do you fish if you don't keep them?" people more than once, it's pointless. Right up there with the "Why do you need so much stuff?"

I wonder that myself, lol.

Fishing South Florida is urban fishing, people always walking around.  Questions are pretty simple and straight forward.  " What kind of fish are in here?", "do you eat them?".  Coming from non fishing people these are inquires just based out of friendliness, a few seconds later their back on their walk.  An antagonist appears once in a while, but not that often.

I fish the ICW in Palm Beach sometimes, different up there.  The area is very upscale and one might think the people are uppity, quite the opposite.  People do stop by and watch sometimes or just have some light conversation while they are walking their dogs.  It's one of the friendliest places I go.  Beaches are like that too, people out for their early morning walk or with their dogs, many pause to say hello, always ask "did you catch anything?".

Way to rip those words outta their context!

I have learned to save my breath, those who don't get it, never will.... Including a lot of bass fishermen.

People not understanding the concept of catch and release is the main thing I run into. It completely boggles some people's minds. Another thing that I've encountered on multiple occasions is people not understanding the use of artificial lures. Some people don't even seem to realize that people fish with anything other than live bait.

When you only use those 3 sentences it can really seem a little out of place. Just think about it a minute....

I hear that. I have friends who won't throw anything back. They can't seem to understand conservation or management. I fish other people's private ponds a lot. They're kind (and wise) enough to want me to take a good bit of their small fish. I want to keep fishing there, so I'm not so rude and ignorant as to take any trophies home. My rule is not to keep any larger than 3 lbs unless I KNOW there are only small fish. Then I won't keep any over 2 lbs. Little ones taste a lot better.

If someone doesn't want me to keep any, I won't. Better to catch and release than not be invited back.

A guy told me once he had a fishing game on his phone but never fished. I told him he needed to get out more and he walked away.

I actually bought one of those Spro rats to try out on my lake. When I show it to people and tell them it's a bass bait ,they look at me as if I have completely lost my mind. I hope they are not right.

a joke.  humor.  I'd explain it to you but as it was once said, explaining humor is a lot like dissecting a frog.  You learn a lot in the process but in the end, you kill it.
