I have a hole in my gelcoat.  Multiple spots on my motor too.

Got knocked in the thy and and the head, both times getting a snag out of a tree. Yep. Don't cast at trees that aren't in the water.

What part of the body is the "thy"?  Maybe the shot to the head did more damage than was initially thought... :)

i had a tungsten bullet weight get lodged into my back about 3/4ths of the way trying to get a snag out. Ever since then ive gone back to lead or weightless. I have no intention of being "shot" again and always put on a shirt/hoodie before removing snags now

Nah i was alone at the time. The scar is there, but about 5 years ago i crashed a bicycle going down a hill at like 35 mph, slammed and slid on my back for a good 25 ft before rolling into a ditch area and slamming into one of those green electric boxes....So you can imagine i wont be getting any tattoos on my back anytime soon

From the stories, it would seem that getting hit by a tungsten weight can cause more damage than a regular lead weight?

I also hit my cousin once, left a nice welt...he didnt think it was as funny as i did lol

Um, I guess I'm just quicker then most since I have managed NOT to hit myself with any weight being dislodged from snags.  But these sure are funny stories...lol

I am with gulfcaptain. I have never been hit by one either but I have a friend that took one on the forehead. It about knocked him out. He had an egg for a week or so.

I'd probably have a story but tungsten is too expensive. Eight or nine dollars for three weights is too much.

I thought so too but look at it this way... if youre flippin your using heavy braid and not likely to brake-off and lose the weight.

also the regular size weights are reasonably priced around 40-70 cents apiece.

Smaller more dense.  Its a bullet.  We have made an agreement if we get hung, we dont pull to break or dislodge.  We troll over and get it out by hand.  If you seen what it did to my Ranger boat you would be amazed.  Looks like it was shot with a .22 rifle.  If that would have been an eye, you would not have that eye anymore.  You would be a Pirate arggg.

Never with tungsten, but I took a 1/4oz to the forehead once. Right between the eyes. Left a nice welt and one hell of a headache for a couple hours. Buddy thought it was the funniest thing he had ever seen.

Whacked my self on the chest once with a 2oz weight. Left a nice bruise.
