jjconnaire Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 So I just downloaded the Navionics app on my iPhone for $9.99 and let me tell us it's worth every penny. The topography maps are amazing and there is even some ways to share Waypoints and small notes for them. It is really nice to do some research on your phone or iPad. I highly recommend! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 17, 2015 Super User Posted April 17, 2015 There is an Android version too. Quote
jcoholich Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I have used it too its an awesome app. If you run lowrance try linking it with the go free and the sonarcharts live will be activated! 1 Quote
AObuk442 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Which app specifically are you using? I have the app where you can use your iPad with your hds touch unit but I can't find any mapping app from avionics for 9.99. thanks Quote

Super User Felix77 Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 I have it on my phone as well. I love how I can route my trips, record waypoints etc. I also bought the "fishing mode" and now I am able to highlight certain depths to help target my fishing. The only limitation is my battery on my phone. Quote
OTR366 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Is it a stand alone app that doesn't require additional Lowrance gear? Some thing I could use to research my local lakes structure? Quote
jcoholich Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Yes the Go Boating app is a separate app that doesn't require anything to use... Wayne is right that only gen 2 with go free or the new Gen 3 with built in wifi will work with the app. Quote
CDMeyer Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I love it and can not wait to get out and use it on the water. I will be heading out this weekend to try it on the water for the first time Quote
jcoholich Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 If you have a wifi unit or the vexilar sonar box try the sonarcharts live! It is an awesome feature that will update the chart instantly in the app or in some cases start creating a contour on lakes that are previously uncharted. 1 Quote

It is an awesome feature that will update the chart instantly in the app or in some cases start creating a contour on lakes that are previously uncharted. I've been using this app for years and just recently paid extra to use the sonar charts and it's a nice upgrade. I'd like to chart some of the smaller bodies of water I fish and this sounds like a cool feature. If any of you guys use this this app should check out the sonar chart option. This is the difference for me: normal charts sonar charts Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 1, 2015 Super User Posted June 1, 2015 The extra darker areas are Sonar Charts Live overlayed on Sonar Charts. 1 Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 How do you mark way points on your current location? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 7, 2015 Super User Posted June 7, 2015 Touch the screen location where you want to save. When the + comes up with the ?, touch the ?. Choose Add to Favorites. You can edit the name and Set at Current GPS Position or ADD if you have the + away from your position. 1 Quote
jcoholich Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 If you like the app and want the sonarcharts for you gps and own another chart chip you can use other brands like C MAP, Insight genesis, etc to unlock the update chip saving you 100 bucks. Quote
sprint61 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Does this give contour lines for every lake? Could someone tell me if it does for cave run lake in kentucky? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 8, 2015 Super User Posted June 8, 2015 Look for yourself. Current maps are on the Navionics website's Web App. Whatever you see on the Web App will be on the Mobile App. Quote
