willt Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I'm a huge fan of Power Pro's braid (green), but lately I've been interested in the red. I like switching things up every now & then. Some reviews say it's great and some say the red dye bleeds and drips a lot, etc. Curious if you guys have any other input. I tend to not trust certain bad reviews for some reason Quote
EvanT123 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I would just ask why red? It's pretty close to green I think on the color spectrum. For example I'm red and green color blind. That said I really like using yellow and have not had single problem with it bleeding. Only fading over time and becoming dis colored from murky water. Quote
Big C Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The red doesn't bleed in drips, you might get a tad on your fingers when you put tension on it to spool your reel but it has never "dripped" red. Maybe they weren't careful and cut their finger on their line which made the line look as if it were really bleeding, which would be weird. Quote
willt Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 I just like switching it up after so long. Also I've used red mono and thought it was great so I was going to test its luck on braid 1 Quote

And yeah that'd be v weird Quote
dam0007 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I use it with a FC leader, no issues other than normal fading. Just got it cause it was on clearance and the bait monkey was in the aisle. Lol Quote
ChrisWi Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I use red braid mainline, it's great! Shows up good and it looks cool. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 17, 2015 Super User Posted April 17, 2015 First time or 2 using red it does seem to stain your fingers a bit more than other colors, nothing I would classify as serious. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 17, 2015 Super User Posted April 17, 2015 All braid bleeds and fades, anyone that tells you otherwise is full of it. KVD L&L slows this process quite well. I don't like red line just because it's hard for me to see. I prefer bright yellow or white, though I use quite a bit of green for times I don't need to line watch. Quote
Arv Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I got some 20# red PP because it was on sale and I put it on one of my reels because it matches. It catches fish just like green. Quote
willt Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Thanks for the insight guys, helped a lot. Can't imagine it'd bleed any more or worse than regular green but you never know, figured I'd check before I spent 20 bones. Cheers Quote
Kyle46N Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I've used red power pro on some of my reels. It will fade just like moss green will. It's the end result that I don't like. The red seems to fade to a pinkish color, with a little white in it. Too me, that is fairly visible. The green fades as well, but it turns to a lighter green, which seems to not be as visible as the former. Quote
