Super User J Francho Posted April 29, 2015 Super User Posted April 29, 2015 Bring an empty box. Everything you cut off while fishing goes in there. When you get home, cut off everything you still have tied on and put in another empty box. After a month, label the former "Junk" and the latter "Keepers." 3 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted April 29, 2015 Super User Posted April 29, 2015 I carry 4 rods and one plano 3700 with a few bags of whatever plastics I think I need. If I'm at private property, I won't carry the box in the kayak. I recently got a new tackle bag from Cabela's and gave my old bag, boxes and whatever lures I've either never used or never caught anything on to a local kid. It's so hard letting go! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 29, 2015 Super User Posted April 29, 2015 If you can fit it then why bother. I have my crate full of plano boxes. Now there are some i don't take certain times of year but for the most part, if they fit i usually take them along. I mean it isn't like one extra box or two is going to impact my paddling efficiency. I figure even when my kayak has all the tackle i can carry, it is still probably a quarter of what most people in boats take with them Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I'm also on the search for the perfect tackle set up and trying to find a way to reduce what I bring on my kayak and while bank fishing. Some times I think I will have better luck finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I wish they made containers specifically for plastic worms and soft stick baits. I want something that is double sided and has about ten to fifteen narrow columns but each column is deep enough to put in six to ten plastic worms/stick baits/lizards and also room enough to get a finger or two inside to pull the worms out. I've noticed with most Plano and Flambeau boxes, there is a lot of wasted space that could be used better if they designed it better. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 Take away your double sided requirement, and there's a plethora of boxes that fit your criteria. Quote

The double sided 3500 box may fit what you are looking for with smaller compartments, although it is in a much smaller size. I have been using these boxes a lot lately though because they hold a bunch despite their small size. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I really like my Flambeau boxes. I think tho to lighted up I will have to start throwing different brands of worms in the same compartment. I don't mind though, I don't think the bass will mind. When I kayak fish I've been taking three soft plastic boxes and one hard bait box and one small tackle box. I want scale that down to one soft plastic box, one small tackle box, and maybe the hard bait box. I don't switch lures much when I'm kayak fishing or bank fishing. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted April 30, 2015 Super User Posted April 30, 2015 Here are those two double Plano 3500 boxes sitting on top of a Plano 3600 box. Not sure how they would work in a kayak, but they work great in a shore pack. Quote
