JDJ Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I fish with Curado I's and I like the reels for a lot of reasons, but is it just me (go easy here!) or does adjusting the Infinity Cast Control dial not make much difference in casting? Great concept, but I'm not sure that it's that effective. Quote

But to me there was a small difference from top to bottom. I just keep it set on 2 with 2 brakes on and leave it there. Can't hurt Mike Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 The whole concept of a finely adjustable centrifugal brake doesn't really make me stand up and take notice. It's change for change's sake. Adding a magnetic component makes more sense in my opinion, but I can take or leave dual braking too. Anyway, the number of brake shoes activated is the most noticeable adjustment just like previous models. 2 Quote

I learned to appreciate the new breaking system, when I started using little to no spool tensions. Adjusting my thumbing and external dials to applications from skipping to long casts feels much more easier than other breaking system I have experienced. Quote

I set two brakes on and set the dial to two, then turn the mechanical brake almost completely off. Launches 3/8 oz baits and up on a heavy power rod and will cast the entire spool with 65 lb smackdown with a 3/4 oz trap. Not even kidding. Quote

I found that it really helpful with light weight flatter sided cranks like 3/8, especially when I'm using a MH crank rod that is only rated down to 3/8. I'm having a much harder time with the same lures on my new Chronarch E with 4 brakes engaged. Hoping the problem is me and I just have more learning to do. But right now I'm ready to return the Chronarch and order a Curado I while they're on sale. Quote

Depending on how much your rod loads up and how talented your thumb is, one brake on you should be able to wing it 50 yds with that thing. Mike Quote

Hollada Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 So I broke in my new curado I and dobyns 705cb last week throwing 1/2 oz jerkbaits on lake St. Clair. Spooled with 8# Invisix. I could not get it dialed in. Ended up with all 4 brakes on and still getting backlashes. I have another other bait asters I use with no problems chronarch, e series, Lews, etc. Any advice? Bad reel? Cleaned everything and put bocas in it before using. Quote
bootytrain Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 The dial absolutely makes a difference. If you the dial on 1 and get a backlash, turning it up to 2 usually will eliminate it. If the wind kicks up, turn it up to 5 or 6 and you should be ok, no need to touch the inside brakes. Quote
