Dock talk, I usually don't even engage in it. Plenty of times I've been badgerd by dummis at ramps, I usually just shake my head and continue on with my day. There is no way I'm going to let some idiot ruin my day. Can't let that happen, no way, no how. I get on with my day with an "enjoy the rest of your life" and go fish!!

Hey yell well my friend and I went out fishing today and had a blast trying out my boat but the people at the ramp saw that I have a lot of tattoos and my arms and so on and they said to me I didn't know people with tattoos like to fish I was like really now like what's having tattoos haft to do with fishing. Then the guy standing in his boat said to me you look sicking with all them tattoos and should not be alound to fish so I trued around and then said thanks. Like I just don't get how having tattoos makes me a bad person or anything like that all my tattoos have a Meaning behind them . I just don't know I work hard to take care of my family and I never knew bass fisher man couldn't have tattoos like them people really got to me I told my friend this makes me wanna quit fishing.....

That's just terrible.

On a side note, you must have been in the same English class as Tipp.

Not quit getting tattoos?

I have a fair amount of tattoos on my legs, arms, chest, back, and lower lip. Some might consider a few of them NC17 rated. The only one who has told me to put my shirt back on when I'm fishing is my son. He's not embarrassed by the tattoos. It's the beer gut and plumbers crack he detests. If it ever happens again, tell the guy to remember that "We are all Gods children and I pray you'll die in your sleep"

Know way I'll never quite getting tattoos at all lol. If this would of happend a year ago I would of went off on that guy but I made a lot of changes in my life so I don't get mad over bs like that anymore I just walk away from people like that . I haven't been out on the lake sence then but that's because I've been down at the beach fishing it hard. Me and my cuz went to the beach at 3am this morning and fished all day till 7 tonight and we did good

I am not a fan of tattoos.  But a person can write or draw what they want to on their skin, it is your decision to make, just don't shove something vulgar in my face. In fact, it is probably more common now to have a tattoo than not.   I think the real issue is here is boat ramp and boating etiquette.  I have been fortunate to have never been involved in any situations at the ramp or on the lake; I have always tried to steer clear of people that were causing trouble, and try not to do anything that would cause someone to think I was causing trouble, but I have witnessed some tense situations.  Most of the time alcohol is involved which has loosened peoples mouths and could have possibly been the reason these people commented on your tattoos.

Sorry for topic I just had to vent about it. And I am amazed that there is still people out there like that I told my wife about it this morning she just said people are gonna hate on you.

Now that you mention this, I'm considering getting another tat.. What surprises is me is the big mouth took quite a chance on getting smacked in the face a few times. I'd have left him with a tat's. LMAO

Not unusual for a passerby to have a stop & chat, the other day was a first.  Fishing at one of my pea spots this woman who was at least 10 years past my 69, stopped and asked my bait or lures ?  I told her the lure and she replied by saying she prefers lures too.  What was unique was the woman was pushing a walker with a little puppy in tow, I got a kick out of it.

I have more friendly talk than not at the lake, and sometimes end up fishing with complete strangers.

Now and again I'll get an a-hole, but usually it's some punk kid who isn't fishing.

Look, I live in Indiana.  A lot of us carry guns.  We're polite.  Jersey has strict gun laws and that breeds loudmouths, I've found.  The rudest parts of the country are the ones that have the most totalitarian governments.  (Not going political here... don't take it that way.)

Just ignore it and move on... or better yet, move from Jersey.

"Yet with all my tattoos, i could outfish you using my toenail as a hook"

In all reality,  ive been criticized for doing the weirdest things that catch fish, for instance, burning a jigging spoon  with braided line on a high speed reel through shallows. As this guy is laughing at me, i pulled in an 8lber, 10 minutes later a 6lber. meanwhile hes catching nothing then up and leaves.

Then theres all the weird looks i get for listening to rock, metal, and rap while fishing in a hoodie on a warm day.

Truth is though, fishing is only a spectator sport if youre pro, and even then to the fisherman it shouldnt be. Fish for you, not for them.

Same here man... I love hoodies... Just feel comfortable in them... Got a hood on right now lol. And I usually fish way out of wack, and I listen to a lot more than the typical country music... My mom tried to tell me if I liked fishing I had to like country music, and then I pulled out the fact that KVD listens to Metallica before tourneys and Skeet Reese listens to Eminem lol

You have some seriously nice ink, don't worry about it. I for one don't give it a second thought when ppl complain about mine. I was teaching a class at church and this topic came up, some people had some really negative comments, I just rolled my sleeve up, that stopped it. ;) People with tats are everywhere from every segment of society, they're no longer just for bikers, gangs and convicts. I got my first one right at 30 years ago, before it was so popular, I was 16. I was the only person in my high school with a tat, the guy who did it was a hard core biker, who BTW are some of the nicest ppl you'll ever meet. He actually made me take him to see my mom, he wanted her permission first. He wasn't a licensed professional, but did decent work.

You want tattoos, have at it. I appreciate people who exercise their freedoms. But right now tattoos are a fad/trend. Fads/trends come and go just like bell bottom trousers and flat top haircuts. When the tattoo fad/trend fades there's going to be a lot of people . . . well you know. Would you wear a pair of bell bottoms and sport a flat top today?

Art isn't a fad/trend. Its been around since the beginning of civilization. The only difference is the canvas is your body. Art will always be art, no matter what its created upon :)

Heres my thought..tattoos are fine, get however many you want wherever you want..but understand that not everyone is accepting and man up when they express it to you. You had to understand that when you got them. I have tattoos and have had them for 25 years..so Im not speaking from an unfamiliar angle.

Yes I agree for the most part. The female sex is the one that dose it more for the fad/trend vs men. They think they look pretty. When I was in high school ten years ago. The big trend for was the tramp stamp. A tramp stamp is a tattoo on the lower back. Right above the the butt. A lot of woman who are now 28-35 have them. A few years ago it was getting a floral design on the side of there bodies. Now it is a chest tattoo. I will not post a pic of that. So you can Google that.

While most of my friends including me. Have tattoos that mean some thing. Weather it is some thing we are in to, or a memorial to a family member. I don't regret any of my ink that I have, and I never will. If I ever get a job were i need to look a certain way. They can all be covered up if need be.

As for the flat top. What is wrong with that? I am 29 and have been getting it since i was a little kid. Granted I always wear a hat, But I like it. It is simple and other then washing it when I shower. It is easy to take care of.

Tattoo's, piercings, hairstyles, the clothes you wear are all self expressions people choose to make. They are also cues given to people who don't know you, used to create a first impression. You may be the nicest, most honest person in the world, but if you look like Jax Teller, why would you be surprised if people reacted to you as if you were a criminal?

The analogy I like is if you were outside & saw a tiger approaching, it would be completely normal for you to run inside. Now, there is a chance that the tiger is harmless, that it is somewhat domesticated & won't hurt you, but why risk standing there to find out?

People are free to create whatever look they want for themselves and everyone else is free to react to it as they choose.

Well a pair of Levi Bell bottom jeans along with earth shoes is a passing trend,( fad ) throw them out or donate them to the Goodwill. But a Tat is pretty much forever, choose your art wisely.

I don't NEED to have ink done.  I'm just waiting for my age spots to merge into a pattern.

Everything ELSE being equal, my tendency would be to hire someone withOUT a visible tattoo.  Sorry if you don't like that but get used to it.  Life is tough.

That would depend on the job title.  I have no problem in hiring a person with tattoos, however in a position of contact with the hierarchy of bigger companies,  I'd prefer a "conservative" image representing my company.

I considered getting a peacock bass tattooed on my back.  I decided not to for fear that by the time I turned 60 it would look like a halibut.

Interesting choice for a tramp stamp

Reminds me of the 20 year old gal that was showing her mother the beautiful rose tattoo she had gotten on her left breast.

All Mom told her was that when she got to be her age, she'd have a long stem rose!
