Super User Catch and Grease Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 My tatula has gotten a lot "louder" when I reel it since I bought it like more than a year ago and I assumed it was just from me not getting in cleaned but I have a friend that says he has heard that tatulas get loud after awhile and even if you clean them it doesn't help, any truth to that? Have any of y'all gotten your tautla cleaned and it stopped the noise? I'm not really bothered by the sound I'm just curious. Another question for people who have owned a tatula awhile, is your tatula even that noisy? Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 Sounds like he missed a spot. No reel should be loud or getting louder. It HAS to be due to grime/grease buildup or something going wrong. I would take an evening, clean and flush it out top to bottom and lightly oil the races and all contact surfaces and see how she does. If it still makes noise just sell it and get an LFS. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Mine's quite loud and makes a grinding noise when reeling, but only with pressure on the spool. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 15, 2015 Super User Posted April 15, 2015 That's not normal and you should have it serviced or send it in to Daiwa. Quote
adam32 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 The gears are probably worn. No amount of cleaning or lube will help. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted April 15, 2015 Author Super User Posted April 15, 2015 Hmm, it doesn't seem like a probelm, its not really a grinding sound that screams something is wrong but what do I know lol I'll probably get it cleaned soon and if it is still making noise I might figure out if diawa can do something for me...
