centralFLbassin Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Hey guys this is my first post. I was in a bait shop today and saw a picture of a guy holding a big bass and next to it he was holding a huge soft plastic frog. then as i walked around the corner they had three of them hanging in a teaser for saltwater fish. they guy says he doesn't know what kind of frogs they are, so I'm just wondering if any of you guys have ever seen them? thanks Quote

I don't have a clue. Maybe someone will chime in soon with the answer. Quote
The Guy Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I believe gambler makes a pretty big cane toad Edit: I just looked it up I think they changed it Quote
Big C Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 They were probably custom poured by a local guy. Quote

Dogmatic Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Bogs makes a huge 10 in. Musky Frog, and 3:16 makes the No Bull Frog. Just a guess. Quote

FrogTastic Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 That sounds pretty sweet. Was it the Relax series frog? Other than that, they must've been hand-poured because I've never heard of a 10-inch frog before. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 The largest commercial solid toad I'm aware of is Manns Hardnose Swim Toad, but that's only 5" long. As stated above, it's most likely a custom pour. Roger Quote
centralFLbassin Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 x2 on Bogs x2 on Bogs The largest commercial solid toad I'm aware of is Manns Hardnose Swim Toad, but that's only 5" long. As stated above, it's most likely a custom pour. Roger Bogs makes a huge 10 in. Musky Frog, and 3:16 makes the No Bull Frog. Just a guess. I thought bogs also but it basically looked like a giant Stanley Ribbit, not as realistic as the bogs. ill have to get a picture next time I'm in there. Even if they are a custom pour there pretty dang cool. Thanks for the response guys 1 Quote
bigfishbk86 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Sizmic frog makes a giant frog, at least they used to a few years ago. I'm guessing that may have been what you saw. Edit: It's the sizmic magnum toad I'm referencing Quote
Super User bigbill Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 I have the big one from bog baits but I have no clue where to get a hook to rig it let alone where to put the hook in? It's a few years old now and sitting here. I have up contacting bog baits he said I needed a 15/0 hook. I got one but the hook is a monster. Quote

Try turning into a "line thru", pass a leader through the nose, out the rear attach a frog hook(a large one) then pull snug, so the hook tips are tight against the back. The 3:16, use a 8/0, and you can find smaller hooks 10/0-12/0(that 15/0 is a monster at nearly 6" long!). Let us know how it works out. That Musky Frog isn't an "action" frog, but more of a dead stick bait. 3:16 has a swimming action. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 Never heard of the Bogs before, pretty cool looking. My first guess was the No Bull, biggest one I know of. Quote
willt Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Check out Z Man's frogs on TW. They have the Pop Frogz version and another. It's rated at 4" & 6" but in the video I watched on them I can't imagine they're less than 7" or 8" with the legs extended Quote
Dogmatic Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I have a new guess, Kalin's(Uncle Josh Bait Co.) Sizmic toad, they made a big "Magnum" 8.5" version(Like Bigfish guessed)...? Quote
RanndomUndead Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Ive seen one large topwater frog before.....and i have to say it was the strangest thing ive ever seen. 8" long, 1 1/2 " wide, had a metal rod going through it and had 3 large hooks and 2" long string tails...I have no idea if it caught any fish, but you could definitely guarentee a fish had never seen it before Quote
