Super User J Francho Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 A $1000 brings a new level to the "is it worth it game" of high end gear discussions, that's for sure. Only a few will ever have to toil over the decision of whether to buy it. If someone does, I expect a full review! Quote
Preytorien Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Its interesting to think of the concept of how many dollars we pay....per fish we catch. Add up the approximate cost of all your gear, boat(s), rods/reels, lures, etc.....anything you actively use to catch fish....then divide by the approximate number of fish per year you catch. $5000 gear / 500 fish = $10 per fish per year. Add more gear, succumb to the baitmonkey, or reelweasel and boom, the price per fish goes up. For some the cost isn't much, maybe less than $1 per fish.....for some, it's very expensive. I don't like to think about it, but I'm far to analytically motivated to ignore it. Sure there's the experience factor, and believe me, the quality time spent with loved ones and family can't be tabulated....but it's food for thought Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 LOL, you think he's bad? His Alabama brother Raider is in a whole other class.... https://youtu.be/TLOa1-A9kfs Quote
kadas Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 It's been talked about many times. Some people enjoy using nicer gear verse average gear. Some peoples idea of nice varies from others. Would I buy a $1,000 rod? The answer is no, but I wouldn't knock someone who would. My feelings exactly!! Quote
bass1980 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Ferrari, Lambo, and Megabass to name a few aren't worried about you guy that won't spend money on their premium products. They are doing just fine. In the end it's a tool and some people like their tools to be a work of art both aesthetically and performance and are willing to pay a premium. 60k boats, 60k trucks, $4000 electronics, $4000 shallow anchors, $1500 trolling motors is a waste of money to many also. You guys should see the gun enthusiasts and how much they spend on some guns that they don't even use it to Hunt. I'm not hating on guys that are well off in life and likes expensive toys. Quote
gunsmoke Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Do those rods run the trolling motor for you too? Quote
DTack Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I just bought the Orochi EMTF and the Tour Versatile. I'm having a hard time trying to decide between the spinnerbait special and the flatside special as my next purchase though. Megabass is simply fantastic and I wish I would have bought some much sooner than I did. The flatside has been much more popular from what I've heard. 1 Quote
RB 77 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I heard it doesn't just catch the fish it catches their hopes, dreams and their soul. It stores them in the handle and the greater the volume of souls the louder the sirens' song the rod emits to it's next victim. This is classic! Those rods are beautiful though. Almost a grand? I'll just have to stick with my "budget" G Loomis rods. Haha. Quote
stkbassn Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Though I was of the opinion that things were already over the top I will say this ranks up there fairly high in the over the top arena. Awesome looking rods. Ridiculous price but if you have the money and want to buy them who's to condemn you for that. I would say I was tempted but I'm saving for another boat so most of my money is going into that basket until I have enough. Also, I don't think I would ever buy one rod that was that expensive, just me. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 I'm not too good at math. What kind of margin is that on a $20 blank? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 I believe its the standard inch and a half. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 Does the Emperor sign it or something? Seriously, I'm not sure on the technology behind It, perhaps it will be a amazing product, it will be interesting to read a few reviews, if anyone pulls the trigger on one... Quote
