dolomieu Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I’ve been wanting a GoPro for a while and I think I’m ready to pull the trigger. However, I’ve never used one and I’m not really sure which model I should pick up. I’ve read the comparisons on the site and I think I’ll choose between the Hero4 Silver and the 3+ Silver, but I’m hoping some experienced users can offer some advice. Maybe a model you feel is the best value, or reasons why I should opt for the Black model… I’ll be using it on my kayak, likely for over-the-shoulder footage. I also think 1080p will be sufficient for my purposes. Quote
Slade House Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I have the hero 4 silver for the sole reason that it is the only model with a LCD touch screen built in. with the hero 4 black it doesn't come with the LCD screen. I I would recommend getting the Sportsman mount which allows you to mount it to your fishing pole, rifle, bow and arrow or you kayak paddle. get the head harness, and the chest harness and an extra battery. also i recommend getting the housing that floats. here is an artilcle that compares all of them http://www.gizmag.com/gopro-hero4-vs-gopro-hero3plus/34090/ Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Have you looked into the Garmin Virb or Virb Elite? It's a really nice little camera with lots of accessories. I have a Virb Elite and really like how easy it is to use and the quality of video it takes. 1 Quote
BassnChris Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I would say get one that can loop video. Set it to loop and it records ......when something happens you want to keep...just press the sutter button and it captures the last 5 minutes (it's adjustable)....then press it again and it starts recording again. That way you have much less footage to go through. Quote
Slade House Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 the go pro hero 4 allows you to set loops from 5 minutes, to 20 minutes, its great, thats all i run. Go with the go pro hero 4 , there is no competition. They use go pros to shoot hollywood movies. what i love about my go pro hero 4 is the fact that i can shoot at 120 FPS in 720fps or 240 FPS in VGA standard. Why that is so amazing is the incredible things you capture in slow motion at those framerates. and 60 fps at 1080 , 30 FPS at 2K and 24fps at 4K (2k = 2 x 1080, and 4k= 4x1080). Quote
