Big Fish Small Pond Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Hey Bass Resource, I have noticed that my soft plastic lizard baits tend to retrieve in upside down, which is decidedly noticeable on lizards that have a different color belly than the rest of the lure. I have tried tying the hook on different ways and using different weights to no avail. Has anyone else expereiced this, and what is the solution to remedy the issue? Quote

Super User Sam Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 Need more details. Texas or Carolina rig? Shaky head? Weighted or unweighted? Spinning or baitcaster? Mono, flouro, copoly or braid? Deep or shallow fishing? Retrieve fast or slow? Flipping, pitching, casting, or straight down presentation? Type of hook and is it a heavy or light wire hook? As J pens above, I don't think it matters to a fish what position the lizard is in to get strikes. In fact, one of the secrets the pros' use when fishing a lizard or creature bait is to hook the plastic in its side to give it a totally different appearance and movement in the water. If you believe you are not getting the same number of strikes you can always go to a keel weighted hook to keep the plastic in its upright position. Quote
