Bill77 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I have always been introsted in the weights of lures and how to build them but it looks like a tricky process. How should I get started? ,Bill Quote
Big C Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Go to Makelure.com, and watch all their videos. Next, start to tinker with lures you already have, like switch blades on buzzbaits and spinner baits. Some good sources for matierials are; Jann's netcraft, mudhole, and Makelure.com. After you get an idea of what peaks your interest you can start to hone what matierials or lures you want to work with. Quote
Slade House Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 learn auto-cad programs if youre really serious about it. Quote
Bill77 Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Thank you for all of the tips. I am already pretty experienced in auto cad but have never thought of designing a lure on it. Thank you. ,Bill Quote
ekahle1 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 What would be the benefit of auto cad? I understand the design aspect, but are you 3D printing a model to make molds? Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 23, 2015 Super User Posted April 23, 2015 http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/Content/LureMakingTips.htm Janns has some videos and instructions on how to make lures. I suggest you start by trying to duplicate a lure you use frequently. Making jigs or spinnerbaits from pre-made heads is the easiest place to start. Soft plastics are a little harder and require more start up costs but not too difficult. Allen Quote
