A couple feet from the bank a grass carp swam up that literally looked 3-4 feet long... I always heard this lake had carp but never saw one... That blew my mind, after watching it a minute or two I pitched my frog next to it out of curiouisty and it shot off with such a swift movement it barely disturbed the surface.... Maybe I need to get a carp fishing set-up I would LOVE to catch that beast!

Things are freaking riduclous. Use dough ball corn meal and strawberry jello mix toghether. Works like a charm for those ugly suckers.

Yeah, I talked to a guy there for forever and he gave me tons of info, he said he fishes there for them sometimes and that he catches some huge ones out there... Now we're going fishing tomorrow in his bass boat! Haha

I've tangled with a couple of them while fishing for common carp. They were both in the 40# range. Just out of curiosity I pulled a scale off one (killed them anyways, DNR doesn't want them in lakes anymore) and it was the size of my palm.

One was caught on 4# mono on a 4'8UL. I was on a quest to catch a carp on everything right on down to 1# line at the time. I had a 40 series reel with a full 330 yards of 4# line on it and it spooled me as far as it could (small pond, it literally couldn't run any farther). Was at least a 20 minute fight.

Both of them, along with hundreds of commons up to 30# were caught on wheatie balls. Crushed up wheaties (cereal) mixed with lake water to form small balls. Chum with 4 or 5 in a 15' area and then cast a hooked one right in the others. #6 aberdeen hook and a #5 split shot 2' above it. Caught a lot of catfish and released goldfish with that rig as well while targeting the carp. Even caught a pacu.

Run a crankbait or jerkbait, something with multiple treble hooks, into the top of their head, that is the only way I have ever caught a carp on an artificial lure.

caught one before on an ultralight setup with 4# test with live worms.  felt like the fight in the old man and the sea....  took me forever to land that bad boy, but it was as fun as any other fish to catch!

I catch them in a river by my house they pull like freight trains! I use potato bread it also catches the cats. I seen a school of them at my local lake it looked like a bunch of torpedoes cruising bout 3+ feet long!

Don't use your favorite rod, I've seen a few people snap their rods on carp.

You can catch them on small jigs with 2'' Gulp leeches and minnows when they are in shallow water. They are a blast on light tackle.

I never have caught a grass carp, but have had several commons take my hair jigs.

I spooked two when they were in a shallow downed tree they both hurdled a couple shallow branches to get out. One was about 3 ft the other 4.

My buddy saw one one chewing on tall grass which was hanging into the water Said he was chewing it down like a cow.

Once I had some kind of carp/catfish/musky spook near my boat.  It created enough wake to cause the boat to rock.  THAT was a big fish.

Ran my bladed jig across one and snagged it in a tournament a few weeks back with bluebasser86. Had it for maybe 10 seconds and blue hit the nail on the head with the description! Looked just like something from swamp people. Thankfully I kept dropping slack enough it came unbuttoned.
