bass wrangler569 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Has anyone ever used one of the CRB Split-Grip handle systems. They look pretty sweet (link attached below). I'm thinking about ordering the EVA foam one for the flipping rod I'm about to build. It says it has a woven mounting tube, how exactly are use supposed to mount it (I've never built a rod using a "mounting tube" before). Also, do you think it would fit an IMX Flippin' blank, it doesn't give any size information. http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/CRB-Custom-Handle-System/CRB-Handle-System-1 Quote
ddigit Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Also, do you think it would fit an IMX Flippin' blank, it doesn't give any size information. That will depend on the measurement at the point on the blank were you want to place it (the seat), from what I read in the linked site it is sized as a ECSM-17 or a 17mm id. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 Well I tend to like my handles rather long with the reels seat up pretty high so hopefully it will fit okay. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted September 22, 2008 Super User Posted September 22, 2008 bass wrangler569, I think what ddigit was getting at was that the reel seat in that kit is 17mm inside diameter. So you would (before purchasing) measure were you want the seat to be mounted, and if it isn't 17mm (larger) at that point on the blank you will have to ream the seat to fit and if it is less than 17mm at that point then the seat is to big and some shimming will have to take place.... Hope this helps some... Good Luck & Tight Wraps! Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Hey thanks a lot reel mech that makes a lot of sense. Quote
Super User MickD Posted October 14, 2008 Super User Posted October 14, 2008 EVA foam was mentioned-does anyone know if current EVA has more resistance to sunlight than the old stuff from 20 or more years ago? I had a rod I really liked with it and it just ended up crumbling away. If it is not improved dramatically, I would hesitate to use it on a quality rod build. Logically, I would think it less sensitive than cork, too, since it is so much more compliant/soft. Seems like it would dampen the feel of light strikes. Mick Quote
