RanndomUndead Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 For every time the "weather" report said something generic like 65 , cloudy, 0% chance of rain, and 3 mph winds all day, follwed by me going out onto the water.....Just to end up in 47 degree weather, overcast, rain, and 20 mph winds within the hour.......Id at least by 300 dollars richer, maybe 400... Anyone else? 1 Quote
Mudrider34 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Yep! Just the other day. Weather said mid 80's with zero chance of rain. I went out and without warning a thunderstorm comes in and I get soaked going back to the boat ramp and loading on the trailer! Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 9, 2015 Super User Posted April 9, 2015 It's always that way. Or if it's nice and overcast but I have something I have to get done before I hit the water, I can pretty much promise you it'll clear up as I'm pulling into the landing. Quote
bassinnoobie Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Weather man says " Well folks its going to be about 72 and rain all middle of ," (middle of summer and first day ever official bass fishing trip) get to the lake and its misting get out of tue truck and its pouring oh well we already here. Load up our kayaks paddle around for about 30mins stoped raining and was humid as a cave and not a drop the rest of the day and was like 95. Talk about swamp butt allllll day. Quote
Catch 22 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 My wx man can never get the "front" arrival time right. He misses by 6 to 8 hrs. Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I just add 10-15kts onto what ever they call for So if the weather guy says 5-10mph that means 13-22kts ie 5 to10 + 10 to 15 = 15 to 25 x .87 lol That way i wont be mad all the time Quote
Drew03cmc Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 In Kansas, the wind always blows, so forecast winds aren't paid attention to. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 It seems as though with the newer better technology, they continue to get worse at predicting the weather. You should live in a state where they go bonkers trying to predict tornadoes. I swear they do it just so my grandma will call me 200 times to see if everything is gonna be okay. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 Don't find the weather forecasting too bad here. I first look at the present conditions and the forecast of my home area, I then do the same thing for the location I plan on fishing. I fish both on the coast and inland each day, the weather will vary quite a bit. Quote
blackmax135 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Well a few weeks ago I was going to my first tournament. The day before the tournament was suppose to be partly cloudy and 0% rain. Said temp wasn't suppose to start dropping until 400 the next morning. Well guess what I put my boat in the day before the tournament and I go to put my boat back on the trailer and it starts hailing and the temp had already dropped 20 degrees. Well they didn't say it wasn't going hail so they weren't to far off lol. Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Oh and the wind wont blow at all until my boat touches the water 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 Or stay home because of severe thunderstorms are on the way , only to miss a beautiful cloudy day with light winds . Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 Woke up yesterday to 70 degree temps and light wind. Hit a pond around lunch to kill some time and it was mid 60's with 15 mph wind. Took off at 6pm for a local tournament and it was 56 with 33mph gusts. Got off the water it was 42 still with 33 mph gusts. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 10, 2015 Super User Posted April 10, 2015 And then there's the discrepancies between the weather organizations; you have the "Weather Channel", NOAA and your local news forcasts. Rarely do they coincide with one another. Go figure. Weather folks can't predict their way out of a wet paper bag on a cold day! Quote

Its a downer and it just ticks me off haha, i dunno how you managed with anything over 15 unless you were hitting open waters and no gnarly bush banks Quote

Until we found some fish right at the end of the day with rattle traps we were catching our fish on Ned Rigs with 3/32oz heads out in that 30mph wind. Dealing with lots of curlyleaf pondweed and sapling trees that grew when the lake was drawn down as well, tough to deal with even when the wind isn't blowing. Of course it helps when you have someone who's good on the trolling motor Quote
rosshilk Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 It is always windy in Nebraska too. I would kill for a day that its blowing 10 to 5 mph all day. We always have to adjust to the wind the best baits I have found on these days are heavy jigs and lipless crankbaits when the wind is howling. Quote
