DTack Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 The spool and handle are double anodized on the Chronarch, the dragstar is plastic on the Chronarch 200E vs. metal on the Curado 200E, and the drag on the Chronarch 200E is "dartanium II" vs the Curado's Dartanium (they spec the same). I felt like the Chronarch was a tighter reel as well, that's debatable as copy's do vary.. I prefer the Curado "color shift green" over the Chronarch E as well.. That's about it.. Thanks! I will have to read up on the drag a bit, weirdest part was I have 3 citica E as well that I got before the Curado E and the drags on the Citica are still as strong as the day I got them. Thanks for the insight! 1
Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2015 Super User Posted April 9, 2015 The difference in the drag is the plastic washer under the main gear was replaced with a carbon fiber washer. It's tiny, and contributes more to the durability than performance. 1
rawjuice Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 I am taking the day off from fishing. Going to see sbout trading in my 60hp Yamaha on a 90. I am going to take the reel apart and clean and lube it. Going to look it over. Probably change the line for the heck of it. Make sure to double check that the bearings are not packed with grease, clean them out real good and put provided oil instead.
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 9, 2015 Super User Posted April 9, 2015 I just bought a Curado I. Too bad I didn't wait till now so I could have saved $40. I took the spool bearings out and cleaned them really good because they are greasy. My Curado 200e5 is my favorite baitcast reel, I wish they still made them.
22hertz Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 The price has been changed back to $179.99 I called TW today and they said that price was a mistake that they have now fixed. Congratulations to those that got the reel for $139.99
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted April 11, 2015 Super User Posted April 11, 2015 They are on sale at another big dealer for $130 still
Super User gulfcaptain Posted April 11, 2015 Super User Posted April 11, 2015 Stop it with the non sense. I use 20lb PP on three of my casting reels. One of them is the Chronarch 51e and it absolutely bombs lures with small diameter line. Trust me it is not the line. If you got all 4 brakes set on and the outer dial set that high there is something wrong with the reel. I set mine with 2 on and 2 off, turn my tension knob almost all the way off, and set the outside dail to 3-4 and have no issues bombing 3/8 oz lures. Something must else must be wrong with the reel or you're doing it wrong. Thank you, someone finally said it....stop blaming the line size. I'm glad I learned how to use reels without having to "dial them in" other then maybe adjusting the tension knob on the side to get the line fall rate I want. All that other adjust this, move that, set this....it's a reel, turn the brakes off and learn how to use the thing. There are no brakes on conventional "old school" saltwater reels such as Newells, Penn Jigmasters, Diawa Sealines, Shimano Triton Star Drag or TLD's. New reels now are overly complicated to assist us and do nothing more then confuse and irritate us when we can't seem to get them to work right. Sorry for the rant, but have read many a post where someone has bought a reel and expects all the bells and whistles to help them cast better when a trained thumb will do wonders. And no this isn't a dig at anyone on here personally, just an observation, I have friends I fish with that have the same issues and can't get their reels to work right and yet I can cast the thing without any issues.

LuckyGia Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I think we are well beyond blaming the user. The user ( me) has made it very clear he has MANY baitcasters and has NO problems with any of the other reels. I am not sure how this could be much clearer. Issue is obviously with the specific reel mentioned. Read entire posts before responding
