gunsndrums1 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 So I had 2 gift cards to cabelas to use so I bought the following items online: Herters roaring fork waders 3/8 oz heddon torpedo in baby bass 3/8 oz strike king db pro model jig in green pumpkin Strike king kvd 1.5 squarebill in gizzard shad 2 packs of 3 1/2 inch havoc grass pig in green pumpkin/ watermelon I was going to buy the grass pigs in 5 inch but they had almost every color on backorder, so I just bought the 3 instead. Also has anyone used the herters waders? I'm going to be using them a lot for river fishing and maybe some lure retrieval too haha. 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 13, 2015 Super User Posted April 13, 2015 Looks like you made some good purchases. I have not used Herters waders, so cannot testify, but try them on, make sure they are comfortable in the house before going fishing. Makes returns, if necessary, much cleaner. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 All great baits. If they are full waders please be careful. Filled with water they are hard to swim in. Quote
HookdUP Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I prefer the db structure jig or hack attack compared to the premiers of old ... And I just don't have confidence in torpedoes myself but I know they work for people .. Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I got a ton of grass pigs because of how cheap they are and I like the havoc line a lot. When I got them, by the look/feel I thought I was gonna be disappointed. Man do the tails flutter nicely even when worked slowly. Quote
FrogTastic Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Havoc baits are pretty nice. But screw Cabela's, shop at TW! Just my HO. 1 Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Yea be careful when wading. Wear a wading belt and always wade where you can see bottom. The lures sound like they should catch fish. Enjoy your new purchase! Quote
Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Not a huge fan of the torpedo... but my brother catches a lot on them though Quote
MassBass Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 You say you will be river fishing; the torpedo is killer on river run LM and SM. Its also fun to tinker with the angle of the prop and vary your retrieve/rips and pauses. Quote

But the Torpedo and the squarebill are fabulous baits.. I had a banner day last Saturday on the Torpedo. It was overcast and a little breezy. They bit it around flooded timber all day. So much so that they bent the prop up. I had to Google it to see the way it was supposed to look. Quote
