rchiuz Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Hi all, Just asking if anyone has noticed that it's getting harder and harder to find the XCalibur Lipless Cranks? I have checked with a few online and brick stores and everyone has them on backorder. Whatever the date for the backorder always gets pushed back, is there something going on with XCalibur that I don't know of? Thanks in advance Quote
sprint61 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I think someone posted and said they was going out of business, but i don't know the truth to that. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 5, 2015 Super User Posted April 5, 2015 I don't think so...http://www.lurenet.com/brands/xcalibur-tackle Quote
bassh8er Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I don't think so...http://www.lurenet.com/brands/xcalibur-tackle Really? The link you posted is out of stock in every color of lipless baits. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted April 5, 2015 Super User Posted April 5, 2015 They are not. But panic spreads fast, hence why everywhere is out of stock as everyone hordes their lures. Funny how xcalibur profits from excalibur shutting down. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 5, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 5, 2015 They were bought out by Pradco and currently being rebranded. All the Chicken Littles out there are running around yelling the sky is falling and buying everyone they can get their hands on because they think the new ones will be junk. The current ones are very popular, Pradco is a very successful company for a reason, I doubt they change anything except the package when they're reintroduced. 3 Quote
rchiuz Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Thanks! I was going to be sad if my favorite lipless was gone. Looking forward to the rebrand, maybe they will add more colors They were bought out by Pradco and currently being rebranded. I thought Pradco always owned XCalibur. They've always had Pradco pros endorsing their baits. The XCS cranks had Alton Jones, Edwin Evers and Tim Horton's signatures on them. The EE jerkbait was obviously Edwin Evers. There used to be the Jimmy Houston Jimmy walking bait. Now that Evers and Horton aren't with Pradco I'm sure they have to make some changes. XCalibur is on Pradco's website, I'm almost positive they've always owned them. I don't believe for a second they are killing off their most popular baits either but I don't know that rebranding is it. Quote

Used to hear Bill Dance talking about Pradco this and that and he used to endorse the exaclibur baits back in the day. Remember the spittin image? Quote

Excalibur is a different company than XCalibur but they are both under the Pradco umbrella. I believe Excalibur makes the Spitting Image. XCalibur makes higher end baits with better components that cost a little more. Quote
bassinyea Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Yea I know that there was a bunch of rebranding that took place back in the day with some of those companies. The fat free shad used to be made by excalibur, now its made by bomber. Quote

The main point is that everything I've heard is they aren't going away, just getting a new package with a different company name on it. Even if they're gone, I'm not spending the crazy money other guys are on them. I've caught fish on all the traps I've ever fished except the Rattlin Rap, I'll be alright with whatever else I have to use instead. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 I got 6 one knockers tonight for regular price, still probably 3 dozen in the store in a few different colors. I bought 3 each of Toledo Gold and Chrome Foxy Shad. They're still out there in some stores, just have to look for them. I have enough to get me through until they're reintroduced though. Quote
dday07 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Still have alot here at home...my fav. lipless for shallow fishing and love the red eye for deep fishing. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 14, 2015 Super User Posted April 14, 2015 I have tackle box full of these in various colors. I can remember a few years back they were about $8 a piece and now Dicks carries them for $3.99. Not sure what caused the price drop but I will be picking a few more when I feel the need. Great bait though. Quote

Yeah there is no way they will wiggle wart themselves. Freaks gonna freak though... In other news I just saw a whole pile of them on a shelf. Fever X must not have struck in my area yet. How much you wanna bet that even if they don't change a thing someone will claim the OG models are somehow superior? 2 Quote
