MacDaddyFishin Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Oakley polarized glasses are nice too. I just don't like how cheap they feel. I guess with the price I pay I can justify costas. The 400g are great. Hobie polarized glasses are pretty nice too. So are wileys. Just try out each one. But one big selling point of oakleys. Impact resistant lenses. So if a lure comes back at you your eyes are safe. Not so much the rest of your fave but the important parts Depending on what style Oakleys you have depends on the plastic built into them. As far as feeling cheap some models have a softer plastic yes, but I've owned Oakley, and Costas and I can say Oakley over rules Costas as far as warranties, and getting what you pay for. I currently have a pair of Infinite Hero polarized half jackets and they are my favorite pair Quote
Djsh8008 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Yall all talking bout coasts and oakleys and I'm the broke college kid wearing some Strike Kings from Walmart lol hey it's what I can afford and it's better than not having none at all! 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted April 6, 2015 Super User Posted April 6, 2015 I bought 580G lenses off a reputable seller on ebay. You can find them for less than retail. Still pricey, but mine have been stellar for 2 years running...or is it 3? The glass is so much better (IMO) than poly carb. I've got zero scratches thus far. Quote
BobbyRaeAllen Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 My 2c: I had a pair of oakley holbrooks for 4 years and loved them... until I got my costas. Those oakleys havent seen action for months. I had gold mirror on the oaks and I have polarized smoke lenses on the costas. I can see things I never thought I'd be able to see while fishing, and they are more comfortable. I forget they are on my face sometimes. Highly recommend. Good luck! Quote
DelcoSol Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I had Oakley with the VR28 lenses but the frames bothered the side of my head after a long day. I switched to Costa Saltbreak with the 580G with green mirror lense and they're amazing. Nicest glasses I've tried. Got mine well under MSRP from amazon. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 7, 2015 Super User Posted April 7, 2015 I'm new to the higher end sunglass market, I've always just had the cheap ones. This winter though I found a pair of Costa's with the 580G lenses at a reasonable price, so I pulled the trigger. Wow, am I ever glad I did! Like I said, I haven't worn other high end sunglasses before, so I can't say how they compare. I can say they are amazing though and worth every penny I paid for them. 1 Quote
Overrun Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 This winter I picked up a pair of Costa's with 580G green mirrored lenses and I really like them. They are much more clear than any oakleys I've even owned and they do a great job cutting back glare. I'm still impressed with how much better I can see every time I put them on. Quote
Brayberry Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 My $.02, I bought a pair of 580G Costa's, cost a fortune! But they work fantastic, and I have 0 complaints about them. I had that pair break, I sent them back to Costa and they sent me a new pair. I sight fish a lot and quality glasses are a must, I wouldn't hesitate to get another pair (if I could afford them) Quote
RB 77 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Yall all talking bout coasts and oakleys and I'm the broke college kid wearing some Strike Kings from Walmart lol hey it's what I can afford and it's better than not having none at all! To true! I went fishing yesterday and broke my glasses (Costas BTW) before I had even made a single cast and that made for quite a long day on the water. 12 hours of glare off the water and no eye protection made for a long day. I would of killed even for a pair of Strike Kings. I have owned Costas, Kaenons, Oakleys, Spys, Etc and the Costas are the bees knees. Buy what you can afford. Anything is better than nothing. Even non-polarized glasses offer valuable eye proection. Quote
