I picked up a daiwa lexa 7'2 MH regular action casting rod at gander mountain few weeks back on sale for 50.00 was msrp 100. I have been debating either returning it or selling it to get basically the same rod in the tatula a MH regular action. I will mostly be using it for lipless, square bills and shallow crank baits paired with a tatula hd 6:3:1 with 12 lb mono. What are your thoughts is it worth it / justified spending the extra $60 - 70 ( cheapest one i found was $112 on ebay in that model ) or is the lexa going to be a better option for the price. What would you all do?

Wish I could help.  Never had a Lexa and my Tatula rods were bought too late last year to do anything other than get out once or twice in the cold just to see how well they cast.  I think these rods (at least this particular model) is being dropped as it is hard to find them.  I bought mine shipped for less than $95 with tax.  Ones left I can find are at full price.   Didn't check ebay.

Besides asking on here, try to find other reviews of both rods.  For example, TT tested the 7'2" MHF Tatula and gave it a Best Value Award.  I had a much harder time trying to find a review of the Lexa.

I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about both rods.  50% off is a great deal and hard to pass up even tho I already have more rods than I need.  Must be getting like my wife.  :teeth:  Wife, "Look at all the money I saved, Hon."  Me, "Yeah, but you don't need it, so how is that saving money?"

I have the 7'2"mhr tatula and it's one of my favorite rods. Very versatile rod, I primarily use it for chatterbaits and swim jigs but its also a good rod for lipless cranks and squarebills.

This is one of the 3 I bought last year.  Good to know what others are using theirs for.  I seldom use a rod for just one lure type.  However, from the research I was doing today, it sounds like the one Tatula I bought will be such a rod....the 6'10" MXF.

The Lexa rods aren't bad from what I hear. One of my fishing partners uses them. I've never held or fished one of his rods, they seem well build and he swears by them. I've got one Tatula rod but mine is the 6'10" MHXF. I really like it but a different animal than what you are looking at.

There is a big difference in the blank, my lest expensive rod is a Daiwa Procyon spinning rod and to be honest it isn't bad. I mention that because the guides are the same and the blanks are similar in both are IM-7 so I'm thinking they should be close. Anyway, the Tatula has a proprietary reel seat, better guides and a better blank, just the guides alone make it worth $30-$40 more and I'll bet it is probably close to a full ounce lighter than the Lexa. What I'm trying to say is that you will notice a difference between the two, they are far from clones and even though the actions are the same, the feel of the rod will be vastly different.
