Dypsis Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I am looking to try and T-Rig some worms this year on a drop shot. Fishing in and around grass mostly. What hooks do you think would work best? Light wire? I was looking at the Roboworm Rebarb Hooks - maybe the 1/0 Lightwire and the 1/0 & 2/0 medium wire. Thoughts? Matt Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 I use the Roboworm Rebarb hooks and the Trokar Finesse hooks with the keeper. I normally use the 1/0 and 2/0 medium wire. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 I haven't t-rigged on drop shot rigs for a couple of years now. I've found that using the Gamakatsu wicked wacky hooks and nose hooking the baits works great and I fish in pretty gnarly cover sometimes. When I was going with a hook that I could texas rig, I thought the Lunker City Texposer hooks worked the best for me. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 The Owner Down Shot hooks were designed for this, and are the best I've found for it. Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 The Owner Down Shot hooks were designed for this, and are the best I've found for it.+1, #5133 size 1/0 is good for 5"-6" finesse or drop shot worms.Tom Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 I actually use a T-rigged D/S much more than open hook and many of my lake bottoms have a little grass that will foul up an open hook A 1/0 or 2/0 Gamakatsu Offset EWG Worm Hook in Black works well for me. I'll be trying the VMC Ike Approved Wide Gap Spinshot this year - which do look promising. A-Jay Quote
Dypsis Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Awesome, thanks for the responses. I will defiantly be getting some of those owner hooks - they look great. A-Jay - the VMC hooks could work wonders, might have to grab a pack of those as well. Quote
Dypsis Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 +1, #5133 size 1/0 is good for 5"-6" finesse or drop shot worms. Tom Ok, good to know. I wasn't sure weather to go to a 2/0. I really want to try the Reins Bubbling Shaker on it. I am a big fan of that worm. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 The VMC spinshot offset hooks have worked really well for me. I actually cast and retrieve this rig in reeds so I need to T rig the bait. The nice part about the rig is it keeps the bait out of the slime at the bottom. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 I really liked the Owner down shot hooks for that but I have to admit the VMC wide gap spin shot is what I use now simply because of the reduced line twist. Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I have the #1 owner down shot hooks for this application and they work great. The rebarb is probably a great choice as well, I only have experience with the 4/0 for texas rigging. Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I use the rebarbs 90% of the time while drop shotting. If in the grass I would use the medium wire in case you have to muscle a fish out of some nastier stuff. I run them threaded through (exposed) when in open water and t-rigged in cover. I actually stopped nose-hooking so much which some would think is a sin, but with the rebarbs I save so much plastic and my hookup/land is insanely good with them. Quote
EvanT123 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I like to use 1/0 gamakatsu offset worm hooks for 3-4 inch minnow type baits. Quote
